For those who say Cruz isn’t “likable” and lacks humor — 19 Comments

  1. Um, is the second video supposed to be the actual scene from the movie? Because right now, it’s just Cruz again. And, yes, he’s good and likable.

  2. Judith:

Visually, it’s the scene from the movie. But as far as I can tell, the audio is the audio of Cruz. It’s hard to tell, because he’s so good it matches the movie well. But I think it’s his audio, because there’s an error or two in it that’s not in the movie’s real audio.

I’d have to go back and watch both again to make sure (don’t have time right now), but that’s my impression.

  3. I don’t care if he is likable and funny. He is the only credible wartime CinC. Be nice if he could in his spare time dismantle the Clinton and Obama crime families and send them to prison for income tax evasion. Personally I’d rather see granny pantsuit get the gaddafi treatment but I will settle for her in an orange jump suit. Then he needs to use powers granted to King Jackass the First and dismantle the left in this crountry until they beg and I mean beg for forgiveness and beg for the return of constitutional governance.

  4. You were talking earlier about the idea that Cruz has an eidetic memory for sounds. That pretty much confirms it.

  5. For heavens’ sake: Ted Cruz is not running for Favorite Cuddly Uncle, or for Sugar Daddy Huggy Bear, but for President Of The United States of America — which is a very serious and demanding position [like, duh].

It’s a genuine shame our popular culture with its over-abundance of LIVs and omnipresent celebrity -slash- rock star worship can’t come to terms with that fact, but reaches for the superficial and charismatic.

  6. I did my part, and also bought a garbage disposal on Amazon via your link. Do I get an e-hug?

“And since that’s the way it is, that’s why spreading videos like this around is important.”

    neo,

I hope you took my ranting about “not running for Favorite Cuddly Uncle, or for Sugar Daddy Huggy Bear” the way it was intended: *not* at all as a criticism of your post, for featuring the videos, the rationale for which I do understand; but as a criticism of the dominant culture, in which we serfs dwell.

(I trust you know the rest.)

  8. “What are kingdoms but gangs of criminals on a large scale? What are criminal gangs but petty kingdoms?”

  9. Yep, that humanizes Cruz. Now what he needs to do is incorporate some of that wit and humor into his presentations to the voters. He needs Jonah Goldberg (a man who incorporates a lot of humor into his political ranting) to help write his speeches.

  10. He does a much better job mimicking Crystal and Kane than Hillary does mimicking a southern black woman.

  11. J.J. –

Bill Whittle is also great at this (and in general at making conservatism attractive to superficial people). And if I’m not mistaken, he and Cruz have had a few conversations.

  12. It’s interesting to me that he makes a handful of unimportant mistakes (e.g. “mutton lettuce and tomato salad”). That, to me, says that he doesn’t have a perfect memory, but rather a very good memory.

He also has good taste in movies.

Now, I *do* wish he had some executive experience. Can he deal with a 3AM phone call? I wish we knew.
