Obama, knave — 45 Comments

  1. Who knows, this may have legs — ABC News is actually following it — from 10 hours ago: President Obama Returns to DC Amid ISIS Intelligence Report Investigation, in which Obama is quoted as saying:

“One of the things I insisted on the day I walked into the Oval Office was that I don’t want intelligence shaded by politics,” he told reporters at a news conference in Malaysia, wrapping up a nine-day East Asia trip. “I don’t want it shaded by the desire to tell a feel-good story.”

Seriously, how does he deliver such lines with a straight face?

  2. Pressure from above to change intelligence or action reports? I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you. 🙂

This sort of thing has been going on at least since Vietnam. The intel and battle damage reports were often massaged as the went up the chain. By the time they reached McNamara and Johnson there was always light at the end of the tunnel. In other words, they believed we were succeeding splendidly. It led to years of half-baked strategy and tactics that bogged things down.

There are many cross currents in the government. You have the administration’s agenda which may be in opposition to the agendas of the CIA, the DIA, Naval Intelligence, the FBI, and all the branches of the service, which are often competing for attention, glory, and funding. It represents the foibles of humans in all their ambition, pride, and arrogance. In spite of it all, we are superior to other militaries – thank God. Think what we could do if there weren’t all the conflicting agendas, intrigue, and mendacity within our government.

  3. I wish I can say I’m surprised. But as you have continually written since 2008 Neo, it has always been obvious where Obama has stood when it comes to the United States of America. We have a willfully blind populous that is responsible for the fact that this horrible man is our President.

  4. In 2012, Breitbart reported Obama missed over half of his Presidential Daily Briefings regarding “intelligence.” The article cited statistics from the Government Accountability Institute that researched Obama’s schedule on his daily intelligence brief attendance. At the time, GAI noted that in the first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended the briefings 536 times or only 43.8% of the time. During the year 2011 and the first half of 2012, Obama’s attendance fell to just over 38%.

  5. We have a willfully blind populous that is responsible for the fact that this horrible man is our President.</i.

We have a willfully blind and toxic populace…
    There, fixed it.
    You're welcome!

  6. There’s even less incentive for action against Obama now. With only one year left in his tenure, everyone can see the light at the end of the tunnel and will not stick their necks out.
He would have to do something truly shocking to get impeached now.

  7. Well now . . . according to the RCP averages, the spread between Obama’s overall “favorable” and “unfavorable” ratings has doubled over the past week. There’s nowhere for Hillary to hide from the administration’s manifestly disastrous foreign policy — and that’s true even without what happens every time Hillary puts her foot in her mouth as the Dems continue pretending to have a primary. So maybe the Democrats think their best bet for hanging on to the White House is the re-election of President Joe Biden after Obama is impeached and removed from office. Is there still time for enough of his fellow Democrats to turn on Obama, as a few have finally begun to do after Paris?

Barry Soetoro lives his life in the Third Person….

Think of him as the “Third Man.”

He’s taken Shakespeare’s dictum everywhere with him.

Many think that Barry will retire to Hawaii.

I doubt that. He’s going to retire to rabble rouse.

    With Organizing for America.

He sees himself as the prince-imam.

Towards that end, taqiya is his schtick.

    Stop right there.

How is Barry supposed to top High Treason in Wartime ?

    How ?

You mean that on top off:

    First Black President
First Foreign born President in the 21st Century
    First Muslim President
First High Treason in Wartime President
    First Hijrah President
    First Marxist President
    First Hyper-Radical President
    First Hyper-Spending President
    First Chicago President
First Gay President — pulling a train through the White House

Barry would top that by ANOTHER First ?

    I say, why not ?

  11. I caught a retired major general on Fox (didn’t get the name) invoking the clause that removes the president from office for medical inability to perform his duties. First, I thought “He’s kidding,” but in a twinkle realized he meant Obama was nuts, delusional, mentally incapacitated.
This might be workable had Hussein not surrounded himself with craven toadies. It is the only alternative to impeachment and removal. I fear it will take a 2nd 9/11 to put some force to this idea, and to that extent we need, we really must have a 2nd 9/11.

  12. All of this ISIS talk in the media is great fun, and I guess the Democrats are taking a big beating from it.

But ISIS is less important over the medium and long term than ISIS. Assad is Iran’s partner. Beating back ISIS in Syria is almost a waste of time.

Beating it in Iraq would be ok, as it would help Iraq be free, and free of Iranian influence. But of course Obama doesn’t want to do that.

  13. Obama is no more mentally impaired than are hundreds of millions of other Muslims around the World. He is the enemy within who has performed brilliantly for his community. Muslims are not all terrorists, and although he supported terrorists Obama is not a terrorist personally, but when it comes time to judge between Muslims and infidels, almost all Muslims will support their fellow Muslims whom they regard as brothers regardless of the crimes they are committing against non-Muslims. Muslims are taught from infancy that their primary purpose in life is to destroy all civilizations other than their own and they especially abhor Western civilization. Muslims were born to destroy and Obama does it better than most.

The left don’t have any excuse for their treason since they were not born Muslims and weren’t indoctrinated into in Muslim ideology. The have freely chosen evil and hatred. The affinity lefties have shown for Islam is truly amazing when one considers that Islam represents the extreme patriarchy which the left claim to abhor. I believe it was David Horowitz who said that “with the left the issue is never the issue.” No truer words were ever spoken. Thank God for a former lefty who had enough conscience to reject their evil and to expose it.

  14. Today in CB Marco Rubio said Obama knew since 2012 that ISIS was real. Today ISIS is training in Libya. And, of course, Hillary owns the failed state that Libya. The entire ME is a disaster and even Satan probably couldn’t make it worse than it is.

  15. The one fact that tells you that Obama supports radical Islam is his support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and his reaction when the people and the Army overthrew Morsi.

Then, many other facts make sense.

Obama supports Erdogan in Turkey, who is a proven enemy of Israel, an enemy of the Kurds, and moving Turkey away from its secular foundation.

Obama has said nothing about the ethnic cleansing of Christians across the Middle East. He said nothing when Morsi’s thugs burned down Coptic churches and slaughtered Coptic Christians. Christian refugees from Syria have a harder time getting into the US than Muslims.

    The list goes on…

    Libya, Israel, Iran deal, ….

Obama and the MSM have done a brilliant job of hiding Obama’s pro radical Islam leanings from the American people. Political correctness means the death of all of us and Obama is its messenger.

  16. “He’s going to retire to rabble rouse.

    With Organizing for America.”

Absolutely right, blert. BO is *not* going to “retire”. He will form a shadow government, with considerable support from his MFM stooges, and work 24×7 to undermine his successor even if it’s Hillary but especially if it’s a Repub.

  17. FOAF — nailed it.

Barry regards history as ratchet and pawl.

He’s not going to permit his hijrah to stall.

  18. A montage of over two dozen audio clips, with Obama praising Islam, lasting 4 minutes:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsUJ2wu0iX4

Can a Christian only heap scorn on Christianity or Christians, and share the full-throated praise for its historic rival, Islam, like this?

And didn’t Reverend Wright reassure Obama that he need not renounce his Islamic past to become a [very convenient] “Christian?”

  19. Daniel Greenfield (aka Sultan Knish), blogged this:

The unspoken idea that informs [Obama’s] strategy is that American power is the root cause of the problems in the region. Destroying ISIS would solve nothing. Containing American power is the real answer.

Obama does not have a strategy for defeating ISIS. He has a strategy for defeating America.
    _ _ _
He may try to contain the enemy, not because he cares about ISIS, but because he wants to prevent Americans from “overreacting” and demanding harsher measures against the Islamic State. Instead of fighting to win wars, he seeks to deescalate them.
    _ _ _
Obama would like ISIS to go away. Not because they engage in the ethnic cleansing, mass murder and mass rape of non-Muslims, but because they wake the sleeping giant of the United States.
    _ _ _
Obama responded to ISIS by denying it’s a threat. Once that stopped being a viable strategy, he began to stall for time. And he’s still stalling for time, not to beat ISIS, but to wait until ISIS falls out of the headlines. That has been his approach to all his scandals from ObamaCare to the IRS to the VA.

Lie like crazy and wait for people to forget about it and turn their attention to something else.

This is a containment strategy, but not for ISIS. It’s a containment strategy for America.

(I bet someone here linked to tis, but I’m only now catching up with it – I apologize if this is redundant – crazy news cycles these days.)

Could Obama’s love for Islam (SEE above) have something to do with his neglect of America’s security?

  20. A legendary Denver area radio talk show host who is now about 70 (and agnostic, not Jewish, but MLA-history educated and a voracious reader), has been doing trips or leading tours to Israel for three or four times.

He says, once he gets off the tour and chats in Jewish or Arab cafes, once the ‘hair goes down,’ he always gets asked two things, as an American: first, why did George W Bush invade Iraq? And, “Is Obama a Muslim?”

For him – given his ex-Left but still populist (and Irish, ergo resentful of the rich) roots – the second is easier to answer than the first. (Probably for the second, WMD LIAR! for the first.)

  21. “Could Obama’s love for Islam (SEE above) have something to do with his neglect of America’s security?”

No, it’s his hatred of America and what it stands for.

(The Islamic resurgence is merely a tool to be exploited to take down America (and Israel, for that matter). As is Iran. And Putin. And China. And N. Korea. And Cuba. And Venezuela.)

This should have been clear very early on—remember the “Wright” stuff?

Giuliani mentioned this obvious point much later on (a year or so ago) and was raked over the coals by all those (aka MSM) who are in cahoots with the well-orchestrated obfuscation. (E.g., How could Giuliani even think such a thing? etc., etc.)

The Obama Doctrine = the continuous and all-consuming lie.

    America is going down.

  22. “In a sane world, with a sane 2-party system, this would lead to impeachment at the very least.”

But we live in a world where the “leaders” of opposition party have more anger towards their squeaky wheel conservatives members than the do towards this Benedict Arnold in the White House.
As for the watchdog press corps, I’m reminded of the 3 monkeys sitting on a log- See No Evil, Speak No Evil and Say No Evil of “dear leader”. Nothing rouses them from their sleep unless it is the thought of setting up a story against the opposition party that furthers the cause of “dear leader” or “Hillary”.
And as we import more and more “grasshoppers”(those looking for a free existence) and scorpions (aka frog scorpion story) the ability of the working ants to right the ship drops to the same odds of winning the lottery.

I find myself filled with disgust that the “Intelligentsia” seems oblivious to the problems caused by the “boy king” and only common folk seem to grasp the danger the country is in. As for the “boy king” I’ve been disgusted with him from day 1
    🙁

  23. Orson: “he always gets asked two things, as an American: first, why did George W Bush invade Iraq?”

Recommend to him the explanation for the law and policy, fact basis – the why – of the decision for OIF.

  24. “In a sane world, Politics wouldn’t be a life long occupation. Nice blog…”

I disagree…. politics should ALWAYS be a “life-long” occupation, but one with enforced term limits (if you get my drift).

  25. The US Constitution speaks of impeachment. The Constitution also speaks of a guarantee of a republican form of government. It nowhere speaks of a two party system. So the wonder may be, which is prior, what is primary?

  27. once russia is on the ground, everyone has to pull back, so obama facilitated for russia this current situation. now, will WWIII start? (ignoring cold war as WWIII)

  29. Witness the power of the Leftist alliance. It is not what people thought it was. It was not about politics. It was not about winning elections. That’s what the propaganda was there to get you to buy into.

  30. I have often wondered what it would take to get a President impeached.

Granted, the Constitution deliberately set a very high bar — which is why all of three Presidents in U.S. history have been impeached, and none convicted. Still — what would it take?

One glib answer is “a Republican president”. But no, that’s not the answer either — or we would have seen serious attempts to impeach George W. Bush, who was probably the most reviled Republican president in my lifetime. (I don’t think he deserved to be impeached, by any stretch of the imagination… but the desire was certainly there.)

Once politicians liked to say that they were safe, unless caught with a dead girl or a live boy. I don’t think either would suffice anymore.

No, today I think one would have to do something truly beyond the pale… such as refusing to listen to the demands of protesting college students.

  31. or we would have seen serious attempts to impeach George W. Bush, who was probably the most reviled Republican president in my lifetime.

They were serious attempts, but they failed.

  32. Daniel in Brookline: “or we would have seen serious attempts to impeach George W. Bush”

There were lawsuits brought against the Bush administration over the decision for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They were emotionally forceful but legally flimsy, and thus dismissed.

There would have been no realistic legal basis to impeach President Bush, at least for his war-time decisions. The legal foundation for his war-time decisions was solid.

The likeliest route of impeachment would have been over the “enhanced interrogation” controversy, except Bush officials did their due diligence on the issue, worked with Congress, and by all accounts, adjusted policy when the standards were changed.

President Bush may have been an awkward speaker, but he was an adept chief executive.

  33. Putin will retaliate in a manner than gives him a thin veil of deniability. That way everyone gets the message, but will not respond in kind. I can’t see bho doing anything but bluster. At most he send kerry and Taylor on a diplomatic mission to Moscow where Taylor will perform his version of Back In the USSR.

The next president, assuming its not hrc, should insist on expelling Turkey from NATO. Erdogan is a dangerous player in the ME and needs a few wing feathers clipped.

  34. Eric:

Despite what you say, there is little question in my mind that, had Democrats controlled the House and 2/3 of the Senate, Bush would have been impeached and convicted on some basis. It doesn’t matter if the basis was valid or not; they would have had the power to do it and they would have done it.

I will probably write a post on this subject in the next couple of days.

  35. Neo,

If you look at the Iraq intervention as the hypothetical grounds for impeaching President Bush, make sure to refer to my OIF FAQ explanation that’s drawn from the primary sources of the mission, including and especially Clinton policy and precedent and Congressional statutes.

The whole explanation is relevant but the answers to “Did Bush lie his way to war with Iraq?” and “Was Operation Iraqi Freedom legal?” should be especially useful.

An impeachment based on the Iraq intervention would have to be an exceptional strong-arm, because a ‘re-litigation’ of the decision for OIF would show that judged strictly the facts, the decision for OIF was right on the law and justified on the policy that went back 3 presidential administrations with Congress’s close engagement over the course of the UNSCR 660-series resolutions.

  36. The health care of the President is the responsibility of the US Navy. Do the candidates have to turn themselves in to the Navy for physicals, so we are made aware if they are healthy enough for the job? With Hillary having had a stroke, shouldn’t the Navy take a good long look at her, to ensure that she is medically fit to be President, and not likely to stroke out on us? ( Could the USN save Our Country? )

With her medical background, and her only having to play at campaigning so far, is it possible that Hillary may not even live to see the Convention, much less the actual Election? Her stroke was only 3 years ago, and the stress is going to get very high.

  37. Voice of constant doom here; the question of whether Obama is a traitor that should be impeached is immaterial, after-all he did not elect himself. The important question is whether he could get re-elected tomorrow. I suspect he could as the devoted generally make excuses for the failures of their gods to delver as requested. Most people capable of seeing through already have. And he is amazingly popular when measured against his performance.

My guess is that with passing time more people will become to appreciate the rat-like behavior of this man and the stupidity of his supporters, that is 20-20 rear view vision and a lot more dead.

  38. Eric, no point in bringing up the facts about OIF to people like Orson. No matter what the facts are, people like Orson will believe whatever they want to believe.

  39. Richard Saunders,

You mean people like the talk show host that Orson cited, right?

The point is, as always, the Narrative contest for the zeitgeist of the activist game.

Down the slippery slope of “no point in bringing up the facts about OIF to people like …” is the Republican presidential candidates conceding and thus effectively stipulating the false narrative of OIF when challenged by the Megyn Kelly ‘knowing what we know now’ hypothetical.

That false narrative of OIF is the active premise of the taboo justifying Obama’s Iran nuclear deal and the prevention of the needed ‘strong horse’ type of American leadership to counter ISIS and a host of other missteps under Obama.

Breaking the taboo that has crippled American leadership of the free world is the point of constantly setting the record straight on the ‘why’ of OIF.
