Cornhead in Iowa: on Rubio and Fiorina — 6 Comments

  1. Thanks again to Cornhead.

It seems as if most people here have made up their minds, but even the committed might be interested in listening to a long interview that Carly Fiorina did yesterday with the “Sioux City Journal” editorial board.

It’s nothing earthshaking, but Fiorina’s given forty minutes, so she can answer questions in some depth. She, as well as some of the other candidates, are talking about serious tax reform. Who can’t be cynical about this? But there does seem to be some political weight behind the idea, so who knows, maybe something will happen.

  2. And blert should know I tried to ask your oil tariff question (as I think the issue is very important) but neither candidate called on me. Very disappointed.

On Marco, I just don’t trust him on immigration and I also don’t think he has as much depth and experience as Ted. Ted is as good a retail campaigner as Marco but without the movie star good looks. In that regard I consider Cruz to be a more consistent conservative.

With Trump, we don’t know what we are getting. Careless and erratic.

Carly is still my number one. She has the executive experience and every quarter she was crossed by the financial press. And the questions were very tough. Also numbers are public every three months. No politician has such scrutiny. Voters need to consider that.

  3. Cornhead, thank you very much for your reporting on Powerline about the Iowa campaigns.

Others, please note, that Dave has reported very objectively.

Here, it appears to me, he expresses his opinion.

I, too, have Carly as my number 1. I have been a fan of hers since she ran for U.S. Senate here in California.

  4. I want Fiorina as VP.

Utterly lacking prior political office, she can’t head the ticket.

But, she’d be killer as the firebrand of any administration, the most visible role that a VP has.

I’m convinced that she’d draw a LOT more cross-over votes than Dr. Carson.

And women are such a huge demographic.

Carly doesn’t turn men off — not at all.

I think she’s a brilliant realist — and has been running to be VP for quite some time.

Indeed, most of the laggards still in the game figure likewise.

Only the top four have a shot to evade elimination.

Thank the starts that Jeb Bush is back in the pack.

He’s spent a large fortune, with nothing to show for it.

We ought to put him in charge of the Annenberg Challenge, part II.
