Obama’s SOTU speech — 35 Comments

  1. The milksop pantywaist let the Iranian Nazis take 10 of our sailors and two of our boats hostage.

Is he going to do anything ?

Are the Iranians going to hold them all this year ?

  2. I, like you, will not (did not) watch our affirmative action wonder of ambition, entitlement and national embarrassment.

  3. It’s a sad and terrible thing, but from now until election day, I’m going to be perversely happy with every catastrophe, since it’s going to sheer away Democrat votes. And the bigger and ruder and more violent events become, the more damage to the donkeys. Iran snatched our sailors hours before the SOTU? Excellent. It’s a good look at the utter contempt with which they treat us. Say anything you like about Trump’s shortcomings, but his carnival-barker ability to focus attention on our Emperor’s missing clothes makes him a national treasure, if only for the duration. You can’t blame Mitt for being a restrained Mormon instead of a brash huckster from Queens, but if he’d gone after President NancyPants like The Donald does, think of the pain we could have avoided.

  4. I turned the sound off and just watched. Looking at him through the fog of liquor he looks alien, not from this world. I can imagine God asking him his purpose and where he came from. His answer:
‘From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.’

  5. I saw the last few minutes by accident because I wanted to hear Gov. Haley’s speech. I couldn’t help him reminding me of Il Duce with his chin up delivery. I almost expected him to put his hands on his hips and to see him wearing riding boots behind the podium.

    I absolutely detest the man.

  6. Our sailors are still being held hostage.

The pantywaist didn’t mention them and no doubt is looking for ways to abase himself and the country with Iran.

As for Niki’s speech, she went out of her way to align herself with the GOPe. No VP slot for her.

  7. Nikki Haley just seemed to be reading a carefully crafted speech. Still, I am glad it was she who played that role and there were some good points.

  8. Well, did Captain Bull**** say anything surprising? Did anyone take one for the team and watch it? I loathe the SOB so much I can’t do it.

God help us if it decides to run for a third term. And why not? FDR did. And a fourth!

(There’s a Law, you say? … laughs hollowly)

  9. Charlie Rose had roundup discussionon his speech. The only non-Leftist? That beltway centrist, Kathleen Parker. The rest, three Leftists for “balance.”

What was annoying is the utter lack of reality testing about Obama’s ultimate presidential “reputation.”

As far as I can tell (not having viewed all of it), only his worst failure(s) was discussed – not his greatest “success.”

As a group, they are utterly devoted to mythologizing his greatness! And his failures? Now on could have done bettter, naturally.

Doris Kearns Goodwin cited personally trying to balm Clinton when a list came out putitng him as a midling president (this was before the Lewinski affair). And then segued to JFK, sayin that no man could judge a president without sitting in his chair.

What a fine way to say “He’s still our God,” and we’re not going to criticize him.

Meanwhile, Obama said something on terror, like that he reads his presidential dailybriefing on threats (like Bush did). Only we know from other’s testimony in the intel community that he does not.

No mention of that contradictory fact by the worshipful all assembled to gloat and admire Him.

His petulance insisits that the US is improving…. No mention of any actual facts, like those cited by Tavis Smiley, via Drudge, of the many ways the status of the Black man has declined under the First Black president.

(Or the measurable decline of US in economic terms, and political and media freedoms.)

If he failed at one thing, it was not seeing to improve the atmosphere of debate in the nation, the One admitted in His speech.

Of course, the fact that Obama has egregiously and measurably worsened race relations did not get mentioned – and that he activiely pre-“judged” controversial matters on race for years before knowing any facts.

One panelist obnoxiously dimminshed the persiod of worsening and more toxic atmosphere to….GET THIS…the last 18 months! Not the four to six years it really took!

These sage heads are incapable o honesty where Obama is concerned.

And when the real shit hits the fan? No one could have done anything better…it’s beyond his control.

    INBELIEVABLE denialism.

Another example: another panelist mentioned the “facts of science” being on Obama’s side – as if “facts” are the product of politically finances group votes, as opposed to the results testing, measurment, and falsification, ie, real science.

There was also another popular myth – that Islam is like any other religion, and thereby an attack on Trump and Cruz. And therefore deserving the same protections against judgment and discrimination as others.

If you buy this non-sense, just read the Wikipedia entry on Ibn Taymiyyah – a 12th century Islamic jurist whose reasoning the “Islamic radicals” now emulate and apply today.

As the Glenn Beck goes, “It is About Islam.” The rest is just ridiculous lies told to people treated like children, pretending that, like Obama insists, we can’t handle the Truth (any more than he can).

  10. All that is required now, is to transfer the hate of Hussein Obola to the rest of the Leftist alliance. All of them. That should be do able now, now that people have experienced it against one of them. It should be the same, albeit diluted, against all of them.

  11. Accidentally heard the part about the great benefits for our returning veterans. Nearly lost it, but then I left the room. Was okay after a while.
I dunno about catastrophes. For dems, libs, lefties, those are usually good things. Taking the US down in international issues….good. We’re racist, imperialist…. Bad employment news….happens to somebody else and, besides, more people on the dole who have to vote for a living rather than work, so the left can buy more votes. Nope. I don’t see anything bad that would cause dem.left/lib concern.

  12. SOP SOTU speech:
    1) Srawmen arguments
    2) Only I understand everything
    3) the Republicans are preventing progress
    4) ISIS is not an existential threat but ignores that Iran with nukes is.
    5) It is every else’s fault that bad things have happened.
    and so forth
Most of the above was composed before the speech of which I heard 40 seconds.

  13. Niki Haley made it clear that no ticket with her on it should be supported by any conservative. I will give no money and no vote to any ticket she is on.

Yet another reason why the Republican party is dead.

  14. Haley’s speech reminds me of Christie’s keynote speech which instead of telling the public why Romney would make a great President was all about Christie. A stab in the back and permanently bars her from any presidential run.

  15. I did not watch. Just cannot listen to the petulance, straw men, scolding, and outright mendacity that makes up Obama speeches.

    Bob from Virginia:
“4) ISIS is not an existential threat but ignores that Iran with nukes is.”

He has an army of Secret Service people protecting him. He shows no understanding of the concern/fear of the average person who flies commercially, shops in malls, and attends sporting/entertainment venues. Islamic terrorism may not be an existential threat, but it threatens to kill or maim many people. Most citizens would like the government to deal with that threat in an aggressive, smart way. Obama tries to ignore it. He doesn’t feel threatened, so what’s the big deal?

Yes, Iran is an existential threat, but Obama’s nuclear treaty does nothing to alleviate that. Case in point – it resembles Bubba Clinton’s deal with North Korea – also negotiated by “nuclear treaty expert,” Wendy Sherman. A nuclear treaty must have teeth in the enforcement portion or it is just a worthless piece of paper.

The most used word I heard about the speech from conservative pundits was DELUSIONAL. That the POTUS would stand before the citizenry and carry on at length about his warped version of reality was, IMO, cause for wondering if he really has gone round the bend. Many have forecast that, because of his thin skin, he might “lose it” at some point. How close is he?

  16. Life is short; it is really short after you pass your 80th birthday. Must use time wisely.

UVA beat #8 ranked Miami. Great game. (My wife forgot that POTUS-SOTU was taking place concurrently until I reminded her. She shrugged.)

  17. Please remember that The One had to be invited to address a joint session. He cannot just march in there. And that no one drags these sniveling anal-receptive twerps there to do obeisance.

When Clinton was being impeached I wrote to my GOP congressman asking why in the world they were offering him a stage when all that was mandated was that he make a report. Why enable the son of a bitch?

“Long Tradition, respect, blah blah blah.” These wimps would applaud at the rape of their mother if they could wear tinsel on their ears.

  18. Would it be fair to accuse Obama as the most unpatriotic POTUS the country has had? It’s clear his verve is low and his eagerness to put the USA as “the country” is just “another job”, as if being POTUS was on his bucket list.

  19. Sorry I missed it. Did Il Dufe do the Mussolini chin tilt that he likes to do? You can have a fun drinking came where you imbibe some booze every time he does the chin tilt.

  20. Bilwik….yes he did…Here’s what I said earlier in the comments section:

“I saw the last few minutes by accident because I wanted to hear Gov. Haley’s speech. I couldn’t help him reminding me of Il Duce with his chin up delivery. I almost expected him to put his hands on his hips and to see him wearing riding boots behind the podium.

    I absolutely detest the man.”

  21. Isn’t odd that more people did not see that Obama’s speeches reflected delusions of grandeur rather than greatness in 2008? It is almost like the majority of people have a inherit need to believe crap! Did the relative indifference to the speech reflect saturation?

Texexec, I detest Obama twice as much as you, so there!

  22. JJ,

I hadn’t thought to compare the failed ‘sunshine’ nK deal with the Iran deal.

What has struck me about the Iran deal is that it incorporates the changes that Saddam’s advocates had called for to the UNSCR 687 “governing standard of Iraqi compliance” (UNSCR 1441) for disarmament.

Recall that the principal trigger for OIF was the UNMOVIC finding in the UNSCR 1441 inspections of “about 100 unresolved disarmament issues” in breach of UNSCR 687.

In that regard, Obama’s main justification for the Iran deal is that it avoids war (whether or not it reliably disarms Iran), which is an obvious indirect statement of ‘It’s either a compromised disarmament standard or war, and I’m right on Iran because Bush was wrong on Iraq’.

The obvious way to rebut the President’s justification for the Iran deal is to establish that Bush was right on Iraq, and as such, Iran should be held to a UNSCR 687-caliber disarmament standard. And the way for Iran to avoid war is to learn from Saddam’s fate by disarming to a UNSCR 687-caliber standard of compliance.

  23. You know, as conservatives we can’t defeat the libs if we keep voting for losers who run on “conservative principles” then stab us in the back when in office.
I found it interesting that Haley dinged the Democrats and Obama for growing the national debt, yet a few weeks ago, when her friend Paul Ryan snuck thru the omnibus bill (which funds every bit of Obama’s destructive agenda for the next year) in the middle of the night, Haley had nothing whatsoever to say about it, crickets.
And now this morning she goes in front of the media to lie about her support for amnesty.

There are two different texts to the speech, there is a version in Spanish language that differs in that it offers a pledge of amnesty.
Read it and try to contain your anger!

  24. THANKS to Bob From Virginia for his ultra brief, prescient summary of the STFU-SOTU….

It all left me pining for the days of Washington and his successors, when a single page letter was sent to Congress.

Brevity being the soul of sound governance, I guess.

And Bob, I’ve ripped off your post for my FB. Thanks again.

  25. When Obama’s face appears on TV, we hit the last-channel and mute buttons simultaneously. All we know is everything he says is a lie and everything he does weakens America.

I can read about the lies and concessions to our enemies after the fact.
