53 killed by terrorist in Orlando gay club — 90 Comments

  1. Obama spoke within the hour. He cannot say the words, “radical Islam.”

Obama is willfully incompetent. Talks about hate instead of what we are really up against. Did FDR talk about Hitler hating us?

    Gun control is his concern.

Really one of the most pathetic presidential addresses ever.

  2. It was Billy Joe Bob. He’s Southern Baptist, a veteran, a member of the Tea Party and the NRA and a Trump supporter. He used a machine gun he got without a background check at an unlicensed gun show loophole thing.
    Wait. What? Never mind.

  3. What Richard Aubrey said. The lefty punditocracy were probably sobbing into their Sunday morning mimosas that this was not the case.

  4. The left will make this into an LGBT issue and they will also point to this tragic event to push gun control.

  5. “he had “a valid firearms license in Florida and worked as a security guard at a facility for juvenile delinquents.” It sounds as though both things were still current, despite the FBI investigation.”

As the FBI spokesman said at the recent press conference, being the subject of an investigation which was closed after finding nothing of substance does not take away your firearms license, nor does it get you fired from your job.

    Yet.

  6. GRA

You got it. And we need to call them out on it.

Largest Islamist death toll on US soil since 9-11.

  7. Trump two hours ago:

“Is President Obama going to finally mention the words radical Islamic terrorism? If he doesn’t he should immediately resign in disgrace.”

  8. My opinion, just drop the word radical, the other two words apply. Read Bernard Lewis, really good-and very honest, discussions and history of Islam.

  9. These second-generation Muslim males are probably targeted by terrorist groups on the internet. They know they have grown up with strong man fathers and subserviant mothers, so they had no role models for assimilation. The terrorist recruiters know just what buttons to push to get them to act. The parents, who might themselves not be terrorist sympathists, cannot stand up to their sons who are, after all, just trying to be good Muslims.

We have got to learn how to stand up to the groups like CAIR and all the others who try to cast us into the bad guy role with their terms like islamophobia. We have to make it clear that in our country our laws are enforced. To the extent that sharia means you won’t eat bacon, that’s OK, but when it means you can beat your wife or kill your daughters, then you will be punished. You will not force your obscene laws on us. We don’t care what you believe, but we do care how you act, and you will act in accordance with our laws.

To the extent that we sound like squishes, the more likely it is that we will be rejected by those raised in a strong man culture. Imams preaching radicalism should be punished for inciting terrorism.

BTW, Erdogan is now coming after ethnic Turkish members of the German parliament. They are being told by the German government not to visit Turkey. I think Erdogan wants to be the last Muslim standing after we diminish ISIS and AQ. He dreams of a new Ottoman Empire. Unfortunately, there are some do-gooders, including Turkish commenters, who think bringing Turkey into the EU will encourage them to accept seculat Western values.

  10. Fratricide amongst anti-Semitic, anti-American, illiberal, haters is unfortunate, but to be expected. It’s who they are.

  11. Expat

The solution is to contain and quarantine Islam in the ME. And also crush ISIS.

  12. After this, coupled with the Boston Marathon pressure cooker and the San Bernadino shooting, I don’t get war fuzzy feelings about the prospect of admitting more Muslim immigrants to this country.

  13. Cornhead,

It’s bigger than the ME. It’s also North Africa, India, Pakistan, the Phillipines, the various Stans, the Turkish enclaves in Germany, the bannlieu, Malmo and perhaps ever some followers of Muhammad Ali. We can’t let them quanantine us–or take us over. We have to be firm in our beliefs and stand tall. Those who don’t stand with us can self deport.

  14. Need to shout it from the roof tops: A Muslim, a registered Democrat, designated his race as “Other”.
What’s there not to like, Barack Hussein?

  15. “As the FBI spokesman said at the recent press conference, being the subject of an investigation which was closed after finding nothing of substance does not take away your firearms license, nor does it get you fired from your job.”

I’m wondering if the authorities investigating young Mr. Mateen were intimidated by the very fact that he was a Muslim and the local chapter of CAIR as well as the US Department of Justice higher-ups would scream bloody murder about a poor, poor, hardworking second gen Muslim being persecuted – ISLAMAPHOBIA! Eleventy!!!1111 if the investigation wasn’t quietly closed with the result of nothing found.

  16. Neo:
    “he was not very religious”

This is plausible if he was ISIS-influenced in that ISIS seems derived as much or more from Saddam’s terrorism than al Qaeda terrorism.

In many respects, Saddam’s terrorism was similar to al Qaeda terrorism, and during the Saddam regime, it rivaled and worked with the al Qaeda network, while adapting trappings and rhetoric of Islamic terrorism where appropriate. Iraqi insurgents adapted in that manner with AQI carrying forward practices from Saddam regime terrorism.

But the narrative of Saddam’s terrorism was foremost Arab nationalist more akin to Marxist-type revolution, which was still compatible since Qutbism sounds like Marxist-type revolution, too.

As a descendant of Saddam’s terrorism, ISIS, while retaining the trapping and rhetoric of al Qaeda terrorism, can offer a hybrid appeal to include “not very religious” terrorists who may otherwise fall short of al Qaeda standards.

  17. John Podhoretz in the NY Post on this — “Obama: ‘We’ are to blame, not Islamic terrorism, for massacre”:

Omar Mateen called the cops to pledge his fealty to ISIS as he was carrying out his mass murderer in Orlando early Sunday morning. Twelve hours later, the president of the United States declared that “we have no definitive assessment on the motivation” of Omar Mateen but that “we know he was a person filled with hate.”

So I guess the president thinks Mateen didn’t mean it?

Here again, and horribly, we have an unmistakable indication that Obama finds it astonishingly easy to divorce himself from a reality he doesn’t like – the reality of the Islamist terror war against the United States and how it is moving to our shores in the form of lone-wolf attacks.

He called it “terror,” which it is. But using the word “terror” without a limiting and defining adjective is like a doctor calling a disease “cancer” without making note of the affected area of the body – because if he doesn’t know where the cancer is and what form it takes, he cannot attack it effectively and seek to extirpate it.

So determined is the president to avoid the subject of Islamist, ISIS-inspired or ISIS-directed terrorism that he concluded his remarks with an astonishing insistence that “we need the strength and courage to change” our attitudes toward the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

That’s just disgusting. There’s no other word for it. …

The attack on the Pulse nightclub was an attack on us all, no less than the World Trade Center attack.

To suggest we must look inward to explain this is not only unseemly but practically an act of conscious misdirection on the president’ s part to direct out attention away from Omar Mateen’s phone call.

    The full article is here.

  18. What vanderleun said.

    . . .

    From the BBC:

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36512308

NBC News reported that Mateen called the emergency services before the attack and swore allegiance to the so-called Islamic State (IS) militant group.

    . . .

    What Cornhead said.

–Does anybody think that Mrs. Clinton is going to be any more honest in her pronouncements? This is, after all, the standard leftist or Marxist line, and its function is to destroy Americans’ psychological ability to defend their society as a tolerant and benevolent one.

Thus, refusing to tolerate evil in an ideology antithetical to the philosophical foundations of the society’s political system — in fact simply acknowledging it publically — is itself proof of the indefensible depths of hypocrisy and evil of our society.

We should refuse to accept this insult. Americans are on the whole benevolent creatures, and our society is founded on principles of respect for each individual’s right to his own life, which means to his own self-determination.

Indeed this is antithetical to mainstream Islamic doctrine today, and we must have the intestinal fortitude to insist upon our right to be what we are — Islam and Leftism of whatever variety to the contrary.

  19. Expat

I should have said contain and quarantine Islam “over there.” The ME is the hotbed but you are correct: Islam has metastasized around the world.

In the Philippines there is a fast food chain which serves “polygamy chicken.”

  21. Islamonazi Butchery/Mass Murder. NOT “generic” terror. Obama is beyond despicable.

7-yrs & 5-months of broadcasting weakness, embracing societal PC-Lies, disrespecting American Exceptionalism and Global Goodness and Armed Strength. Actively WEAKENING our armed forces and any semblance of character. Early-on, the detestable Cairo speech and namby-pamby reaction to the Islamist Massacre at Ft.Hood. Then, the unforgiveable Retreat & Withdrawal of our 10’s of thousands of stabilizing troops in a peaceful, burgeoning Republic of Iraq where Shia and Sunni were at Peace. A Deliberate Broadcast to Radical Islam and others of the Globe’s Monsters that AMERICAN WEAKNESS IS THE NEW NORM.

We are sickened by the news from our adopted home city of Orlando (We live in nearby Winter Park.)and gay friends(some Latino)and the broadcast of scenes from nearly daily familiar places like Orange Avenue, ORMC, etc. We are in the Great Smoky Mtns for 3-weeks. My God.

  22. Neo, reiterating–as she has to, so early in the news–what is being said on and in the news, said, “Last night’s vicious attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando has resulted in the highest death toll ever in a US mass murder.”

The gun-control people are doubling down on this.

But in their hurry to attack guns they are wrong about the facts.

In 1990, in the “Happy Land Fire”, 87 people were murdered by a man (Gonzales in the quote below), who was angry at his girlfriend, who worked at the Happy Land unlicensed club, which was upstairs in a building and had been ordered closed. According to Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Land_Fire:

“Unable to acquire a gun, Gonzé¡lez returned to the establishment with a plastic container of gasoline. He spread the fuel on a staircase, the only access into the club, and then ignited the gasoline.”

I remembered this because I remember that, at the time, I was horrified, and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t a monumental story in the news. It was mostly downplayed or ignored, and to my memory it was almost treated as a shrugged-shoulders sort of incident by the press: as the emergency responders were laying bodies out on the cement, the press was dealing with it as a tragedy, not a murder, even tough they had the murderer. It was more like, “Gee, how terrible this happened.” Most of the story later in follow-up were about ownership and liability charges and those kinds of issues, NOT about the murderer, who had been in custody immediately after.

Now, there were over 300 people in the nightclub last night in Orlando. What if the murderer last night had mimicked Gonzales, instead?

Guns are not the issue, but that’s all we’ll hear about.

As I wrote in my blog–when I had one–“Weapons of Mass Destruction look out at the world through hate-filled eyes, waiting their chance.”

But I have come to understand that hatred and anger aren’t even necessary. The most dangerous WMD is a Human Being with a brain, and with an ideology that is fueled on a justification for openly-declared murder. I should have written: “Weapons of Mass Destruction look out at the world through ideologically-justified murder-filled, only sometimes hate-filled, eyes, waiting their chance.”

If an ideology encourages violence, the true-believer doesn’t need hatred or anger. (After all, when you kill an irritating bug, you aren’t angry, just impatient.) Islamist Terrorism de-humanizes its enemies, and, actually, that doesn’t even need to require hatred or anger; the ideology is sufficient.

I think this is one of the reasons that people are often surprised at who a terrorist turns out to be, and also why it is particularly hard to profile a terrorist. Often it’s not the guy in the corner seething at a perceived slight; often it’s the cool, unemotional person, who views killing his enemies as a job to be done.

Of course, all this is just my opinion.

We have got to learn how to stand up to the groups like CAIR and all the others who try to cast us into the bad guy role with their terms like islamophobia.

The way to do it is lawfare. Hit CAIR with a bunch of lawsuits. Demand discovery docs. Perhaps one way to do it is to bait CAIR with some Islamphobic statements, get them to initiate a lawsuit, and have $ and attorneys to fight back.

  24. His father said that the attack “has nothing to do with religion.”

    A bald faced lie.

The shooting started at around 2pm, Islam’s ‘holy warrior’ was reportedly shooting defenseless people for hours but the SWAT team didn’t storm the building until around 5am… what happened to “running toward the sound of guns”? Why the lengthy delay, while defenseless people were being executed?

“an imam speaking in Orlando in April said that killing gays according to Islamic law should be done “out of compassion”” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBlwxqqAprQ&feature=youtu.be

“Man arrested with weapons, explosive materials wanted to ‘harm people’ at LA Pride”

“Afghanistan Migration Surging into America; 99% Support Sharia Law”

Hundreds of Muslims have entered the country illegally. The FBI has nearly a thousand ongoing terrorist investigations.

    This is just the beginning.

  25. “Read Bernard Lewis, really good-and very honest, discussions and history of Islam.” Stan on the Brazos

Lewis refuses to admit that radical Islamists are the most devout of Muslims and are faithfully following Allah’s commands as dictated to Muhammad.

Bernard Lewis is the ‘expert’ who advised George Bush that, “Islam is a religion of peace”.

    Second the motion.

  27. Geoffrey Britain:

I’ve heard people assert that Lewis advised Bush to call Islam a “religion of peace.”

But you know what? I’m never seen anything indicating it’s true that Lewis was the culprit. What’s more, Lewis has explicitly written many many things acknowledging the violence of the terrorism committed by many Muslims, and their rage.

For example, in 1990 Lewis wrote an article in The Atlantic titled “The Roots of Muslim Rage” that said this (remember, this was way back in 1990):

But Islam, like other religions, has also known periods when it inspired in some of its followers a mood of hatred and violence. It is our misfortune that part, though by no means all or even most, of the Muslim world is now going through such a period, and that much, though again not all, of that hatred is directed against us…

At times this hatred goes beyond hostility to specific interests or actions or policies or even countries and becomes a rejection of Western civilization as such, not only what it does but what it is, and the principles and values that it practices and professes. These are indeed seen as innately evil, and those who promote or accept them as the “enemies of God.”

This phrase, which recurs so frequently in the language of the Iranian leadership, in both their judicial proceedings and their political pronouncements, must seem very strange to the modern outsider, whether religious or secular. The idea that God has enemies, and needs human help in order to identify and dispose of them, is a little difficult to assimilate…

In Islam the struggle of good and evil very soon acquired political and even military dimensions. Muhammad, it will be recalled, was not only a prophet and a teacher, like the founders of other religions; he was also the head of a polity and of a community, a ruler and a soldier. Hence his struggle involved a state and its armed forces. If the fighters in the war for Islam, the holy war “in the path of God,” are fighting for God, it follows that their opponents are fighting against God…

In the classical Islamic view, to which many Muslims are beginning to return, the world and all mankind are divided into two: the House of Islam, where the Muslim law and faith prevail, and the rest, known as the House of Unbelief or the House of War, which it is the duty of Muslims ultimately to bring to Islam. But the greater part of the world is still outside Islam, and even inside the Islamic lands, according to the view of the Muslim radicals, the faith of Islam has been undermined and the law of Islam has been abrogated. The obligation of holy war therefore begins at home and continues abroad, against the same infidel enemy…

There’s much much more in the essay, which is long. It includes Lewis saying not all or even most Muslims believe this, etc. etc. Remember again, in 1990 the more radical Islamist philosophy was nowhere near as widespread as it is now, the terrorism network not as well-developed. But I’m not quoting Lewis to say he was right about everything. I’m quoting him to show that he pretty early on understand the violence in Islam and the dangers. Nor does he shrink from the idea that the more radical fundamentalist Islamic sect that have promoted this anti-Western rage are in fact a form of Islam.

What’s more, in this 2008 interview he explicitly disavowed the “Islam is peace” characterization and takes a middle road:

Foreign Policy: What do you see as the biggest misperception about Islam?

Bernard Lewis: Well, there are two. Sometimes one, sometimes the other, predominates. It depends when and where. I would call them the negative one and the positive one. The negative one sees Muslims as a collection of bloodthirsty barbarians offering people the choice of the Koran or the sword, and generally bringing tyranny and oppression wherever they go. And the other one is the exact opposite, what you might call the sanitized version, which presents Islam as a religion of love and peace, rather like the Quakers but without their aggressiveness. The truth is in its usual place, somewhere between the extremes.

    More from that interview:

FP: A lot of analysts, and this is especially something you hear from political leaders in the Muslim world, say that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism that these are completely separate issues. Is that a view that you subscribe to? Some people say that terrorism is largely caused by occupation or a response to U.S. policy, not Islam.

BL: Well, I cant subscribe to it since the terrorists themselves claim to be acting in the name of Islam. There was one Muslim leader who said, not long ago, that it is wrong to speak about Muslim terrorism, because if a man commits an act of terrorism, hes not a Muslim. Thats very nice, but that could also be interpreted as meaning that if a Muslim commits it, it doesnt count as terrorism.

When a large part of the Muslim world was under foreign rule, then you might say that terrorism was a result of imperialism, of imperial rule and occupation. But at the present time, almost the whole of the Muslim world has achieved its independence. They can no longer blame others for what goes wrong.

I am sure there are plenty of things Lewis said that you’d disagree with, but he certainly doesn’t seem to ascribe to the “Islam is a religion of peace” idea. Nor does he reject the idea that Muslim terrorism has something to do with Islam, and he acknowledges that we should take them at their word when they say their actions have to do with Islam. No, he doesn’t think the terrorists are the only ones following in Muhammed’s footsteps, but he acknowledges the militant nature of Muhammed and that they are “fundamentalists,” which certainly implies going back to the Koran and relying on it.

  28. The Leftist alliance pushes gun control so that their allies, Islamic jihad, can kill anybody they want to in America.

Plus the Left is evil and plus the Democrats sell weapons to drug cartels and terrorists. They can’t sell as much weapons if weapons are being bought and sold only in the US, to other Americans. That decreases the profits on the assault rifles they give to cartels. Look up the instance where a Democrat politician in California was caught running guns. It’s not just F and F or ATF running guns. The entire alliance is in on it.

  29. One problem with Islam is the Law of Big Numbers. If only 1% are whacked out murderers – or support them – that’s still a big number.

  30. As more information about the murderer and his father comes out, it is looking worse.

Apparently there was a history of associations, and statements that should have set off alarms. This is especially true considering that the Cretin worked for a contractor who provided armed security to government facilities, including nuclear sites.

Will we ever learn? There is little cause for optimism. If you make a derogatory statement about a protected minority you are liable for criminal prosecution under the hate crime provisions. If you are an Iman who encourages his flock to take up the sword against the society that provides sanctuary, you are protected.

On another level, I get so sick of this “religion of peace” tripe. Can anyone show me in the Koran, or in the literature, where Islam preaches tolerance for non-believers, for women, for homosexuals, or any other who do not toe the line? Well, yeah. It may be the religion of peace where it is weak, and tightly controlled. I have no idea what G. W. Bush was thinking when he said that it was; just as i have no idea why he made the statement that he made about looking into Putin’s soul. There must have been a strategy that is too esoteric for my understanding. On the other hand I have no problem understanding Barack Hussein Obama. Until someone can convince me otherwise; I consider his middle name to be informative.

Good point abut the Happy Land fire. Then of course there was Oklahoma City; i.e., fertilizer. Don’t anyone hold their breath until the media picks up on the significance of those.

  31. Excellent article, Neo. You touched on all the important points. Thanks.
Regarding the “Why was this guy allowed to purchase guns?” question, I think the pendulum may have swung too far to the lenient side. I had a neighbor who had been involuntarily committed to a mental hospital at one time, but he had an entire closet full of guns. The law “respected his privacy”. I honestly don’t know what the solution is, other than vigilant citizens.

  32. Neo:
“I’ve heard people assert that Lewis advised Bush to call Islam a “religion of peace.””

It’s an odd point of contention, anyway. The implication seems to be that the phrase signified an avoidance of counter-terrorism, but President Bush ordered robust counter-terrorism that aggressively confronted both of the principal loci of the region’s terrorism, the al Qaeda network and Saddam’s terrorism. Many Muslims have been on our side, and have been killed by terrorists for being on our side, in that counter-terrorist campaign.

  33. Neo:

Thanks for the information on Bernard Lewis. Another canard bites the dust. Mark Levin mentioned last week that Lewis had just had his 100th birthday and praised his work. Not something I would expect if Lewis were not clear eyed about Islam. I’ve only read a few of Lewis’s works.

  34. Word is now leaking out that he was “radicalized” by a violently anti-gay, Black Muslim, New Black Panthers guy, Marcus Dwayne Robertson:

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/06/12/orlando-gunman-tied-to-radical-imam-released-from-prison-last-year-say-law-enforcement-sources.html

    And there’s this:
The gunman was at the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce with Imam Shafiq Rahman two days before the nightclub attack, according to The Washington Post. That mosque was frequented by American-born suicide bomber Monar abu Salha, who blew himself up in Syria in 2014, and the two knew each other, according to officials. Mateen’s association with Salha led the FBI to interview him in 2014.

…Robertson, who recently spent four years in prison in Florida on illegal weapons and tax fraud charges before being released by a Florida judge one year ago, has openly and enthusiastically preached against homosexuality.

The commenters on a WashPo article were spewing anti-CHRISTIAN bigotry, and dragged out the (minuscule, one-family) Westboro “Baptist Church” as their one example of “Christians being Just As Bad! eleventy!!” [BTW, the actual Baptists have disavowed Phelps and his crew more than once.]

  35. Last nights killings were not the largest mass murders in US history. Obviously, 9/11 was larger as was the Oklahoma City bombing and the Bronx arson nightclub fire in 1990 which killed 87. Last night was the largest mass shooting. But even that is probably not true depending on ones point of view. Quantrill’s raid on Lawrence Kansas in the Civil War killed more as did Wounded Knee. There may have been other Indian-civilian-solder fights with larger death tolls.

  36. Interview with eyewitness in the Palm Beach Post — he said there were more than one shooter, plus at least one man holding the exit door shut that he tried to get out of.

    More will be revealed….

  37. TexasYankee:

I believe that the statistic was for mass murders as opposed to terrorism or battles of any type. The idea is that there are records for terrorist attacks and separate records for mass murders. I think that the two statistics were given that way because at the time they weren’t certain it was a terrorist attack.

  38. More: the killer was known to be intensely homophobic, unstable, radical moslem but the “Muslim Shield” protected him:

a former cop who worked a security job with Mateen says he was a creep and believes his conduct got a pass for the usual reason:

Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim. Gilroy quit after he said Mateen began stalking him via multiple text messages – 20 or 30 a day. He also sent Gilroy 13 to 15 phone messages a day, he said.

“I quit because everything he said was toxic,” Gilroy said Sunday, “and the company wouldn’t do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people.”

  39. This is a Kiplingesque moment showing that character and integrity are the path to stopping the Islamic threats. We have always had the legal tools to keep this in check but have chosen for cash or political correctness not to use them. It starts with junior foreign service officers overseas who grant visas. They are the first line of defense but often not supported by their leadership. Universities who gladly partner with nasty Muslim countries to fill their seats with high paying students play a role. Adherence to law on immigration and deportation is also important.

Trump’s barely thought out ban picks up on this public clamor, but is both illegal and impractical We need to emphasize firmness at all levels (including the public in their local affairs) and by restoring a higher level of civic education in how American society functions.

  40. DJG: Why is it “impractical” to stop all immigration from Muslim countries?

  41. snopercod Says:
“Why is it “impractical” to stop all immigration from Muslim countries?”

For one thing, it would prevent all the persecuted Christians, and the few remaining Jews and other nonbelievers from getting out. (Not a big deal for Obama, for whom the Muslim genocide against the Christians is as invisible and unmentionable as Islamic terrorism.)

Also, define “Muslim country”. Every nation with even just 1-2% of Muslims, including the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, et all, are now demonstrably packed with Muslim radicals, often home-grown. They would love to export them to us.

If we’re going to reject them as Muslims because their religion is incompatible with Western democratic tradition, philosophy and governance, then let’s get rid of all the Marxists too, who are but a few more single steps from completing their journey of a thousand miles and progressing us to 1984. Then the clash of the totalitarians will occur, with both sides armed to the teeth with nukes.

Unfortunately, good men, myself included, did nothing to prevent the rise and impending triumph of both these monstrous forces.

My solution, as a lifelong atheist, is to pray for God to help us all.

  42. Neo,

I corrected you because the other reports I read said mass shooting, not mass murder. They were making the distinction, I guess, to emphasize the weapon and also because it was neither the worst mass murder or the worst terrorist attack.

  43. Folks the fella with the “Islam is a religion of peace” is Grover Norquist.

He and his Sunni wife ( jihadist, Palestitian// Kuwaiti hyper activist working the media and K–street ) engineered a quiet confab with President Bush and a slew of tendentious Sunni imams less than a month after 9-11 — IIRC.

She won’t have any of his kids — but is fine with adoption.

( Arab Muslim women are NOT to marry// provide kafir with children. )

Lewis was contacted in the same time frame — but, IIRC, was NOT involved in the CRITICAL confab.

George really went off the rails. He did not vet the Muslims — and did not contact Jewish, Catholic, or Protestant religious authorities.

His utterance was made in the SHADOW of that confab.

His lover subsequently married him — so now it’s official — she’s Mrs. Norquist.

This PIVOTAL confab sent George onto the wrong trajectory — which has been amplified by Barry Soetoro.

    &&

As a queer Muslim, Barry must be seriously conflicted when commenting upon Orlando.

If Barry is not queer — then how to explain Mr. Love ?

    AND his larger entourage ?

    The boy’s club ?

  44. Before Blert chimes in regarding the quote from Admiral Beatty (Jutland 1916). Flawed design assumptions in British battlecruzers combined with flawed practices handing ammunition. Kaboom, sunk ships dead sailors.

  45. Pack up go home, its the fault of the NRA says the cover of the Daily news.. though they do not explain other than saying if there was a ban there would be no gun, just as there is a ban on heroin and we have a record number of people taking herion, speed, mairjuana, cocaine, 2CB2, GABA/GBA, Ketamine, morphine, huacha, Aminita muscaria, lsd, crack, and more…

guns are a lot easier to make than drugs…
so we going to outlaw machine shops, home depot, track all metals for disposal so no one takes a part from a car, and more?

the minute the guns are illegal, your going to get a influx of fully automatic weapons and hand grenades from the cartels!

and bombs are even easier than guns to make and there are tons of nefarious things people can do but are just not quite bright enough to figure them out.

funny, but the crazier, the more left, and so on we get the more of this wackoness is the outcome, and the less the lft thinks that they are responsible for it. after all, there was a time when you could buy a shotgun in a comic book and walk around town with it, and no one considered doing this at all, but since the socialists games and screwed with the heads of peope, this is ripe and the more they do that and the more they dumb them down the more they let their choices undo the effort of hard work – the more this happens.

they put a list in the paper, including adam lanza
but remember, adam lanzas mother wanted a misdiagnosis of aspergers to replace one of schizophrenia or psychosis. WHY? because the left picks and chooses winners and those with aspergers got better education and interventions and freebies for a single mom wiht a problem child.

your going to find lots of maladaptions that way given the lefts proclivity to pick winners and losers and do things like affirmative action… ie. no matter how hard you work or what you achieve you will never have a raise or promotion for the rest of your life.

    thats what my boss said..
now… at that point being setenced to homelessness in old age for no other reason than the lefts bs, its not to hard to see how some persons with weak morals raisd in the error of if it feels good do it, would then act out.

they had already lost everything they ever wanted nad have no future, so what does it matter?

in terms of this attack, the people under such religios belief think that their beliefs wont be accomodated, and they wont. so, they resort fo fighthing in a way for the same equal treatment to practice things that they want to practice, but the same arbitrary leftist designers dont or wont allow.

to them, if the left can change the US from the kind of family first education first and all that society to what it is now to them, why cant they change it to what they want if they are clever, have backing, and can be more violent than ayers… ayers used bombs, not guns, so whats the difference given this is an open society?

they are making gun powder and creating tinder box, and then wondering why things are blowing up int heir faces based on their eronous beliefs that they then want us to believe.

only recently has the political class done this to the point that its going to affect and poision the political class unless you think that they can avoid zika, clubbing, etc..

  49. There may have been other Indian-civilian-solder fights with larger death tolls.

actually there were but these were the masacres and such that spain and such visited that turned many indians against settlers who then took the brunt.

of course, we have no idea of the spanish before the british when columbus founded the country for isabella of spain.. NOT the british or germans…

ie. the blame they heap on the revolutionaries and such is 200 years AFTER the pilgrims and spanish settlers.

1539 – Napituca Massacre – Hernando de Soto had 200 executed, in the first large-scale massacre by Europeans on what became American soil.

[notice that the spaniish are europeans not spanish as to day, and that we hate spanish despite we loved ricky recardo and did not see that much as a mixed thing, or notice… so its the machinations of the state, and mostly dems]

Mabila Massacre Choctaw retaliated against Hernando de Soto’s expedition killing 200 soldiers, as well as many of their horses and pigs, for their having burned down Mabila compound and killed c. 2,500 warriors who had hidden in houses of a fake village

Tiguex Massacres – the invading Spaniards seized the houses, food and clothing of the Tiguex, and raped their women, the Tiguex resisted. The Spanish attacked them, burning at the stake 50 people who had surrendered. Francisco Vé¡squez de Coronado’s men laid siege to the Moho Pueblo, and after a months-long siege, they killed 200 fleeing warriors.

1599 Juan de Oé±ate led a punitive expedition against the natives in a three-day battle at the Acoma Pueblo, killing approximately 800.

1601 – Spanish troops destroyed 3 Indian villages in the Sandia Mountains, New Mexico. According to Spanish sources, 900 Tompiro Indians were killed.

1622 – Powhatan (Pamunkey) killed 347 English men, women and children throughout the Virginia colony, almost one-third of the English population of the Jamestown colony, in an effort to push the English out of Virginia. [there was no massacres of indians by engl;ish prior to that… the spanish started it all, the indians treated all the settlers the same, and the rest was history]

later things were made worse and more mixed as the spanish, the french and british paid indians to be mercenaries for their states…

    lots of them here

  50. 1. The method with this latest attack shares similarities with the 2015 attacks in Paris and San Bernardino (mass shooting in a public space). Here the differences include one shooter, a higher body count per shooter, and the venue (the gay nightclub). I am surprised at the latter; I would have expected more attacks in Europe first.

    2. Public official were quick to identify this as terrorism, and so far it looks like the Orlando police handled this as well as anyone could have. However, it’s disappointing that the motivation for this attack (namely, the Islamic religion and the desire for Islamic supremacy) has not been mentioned and discussed by enough political leaders. This hampers our strategy to solve the problem.

    3. Build a wall, don’t let anymore Muslims into the country as immigrants or refugees, and deport the troublemakers. This would be a good start, and the best thing for American citizens. It would also send the right message to the rest of the world.

  51. Feminist states have below replacement birth rates..
so they are dying out and are not to be supported when the welfare supported (by the dying out women), are having 5 kids or more… and have multiple wives..

they may not be edumacated, but warm live bodies count more than dead ends with nothing…

Globally, Muslims have the highest fertility rate, an average of 3.1 children per woman–well above replacement level (2.1) due to young age of Muslims (median age of 23) compared to other religious groups. Christians are second, at 2.7 children per woman. Hindu fertility (2.4) is similar to the global average (2.5). Worldwide, Jewish fertility (2.3 children per woman) also is above replacement level. All the other groups have fertility levels too low to sustain their populations and would require converts to grow or maintain their size: indigenous and tribal religions (1.8 children per woman), other religions (1.7), the unaffiliated (1.7) and Buddhists (1.6)

and feminists and leftists have the lowest brith rates.
ie. self extermination by the eugenics lovers – which on one can say or be believed until they are so far gone they cant be saved and its so obvious no one can deny it.

the whole reason the left favors islam is that islam is not feminist and it has children that grow up and vote and so on… while feminists have what? even if women are not feminsit they follow that doctrine and so in EVERY state we discuss here, they import people from other higher birth areas which do not follow feminism.

i wonder if the ladies will find sharia worse than patriarchy that put them up as queens of the home and had great respect.

right now, the attraction for western males from black communities and white ones and so on, is that you side with islam you earn a place in a family and so on again… dont, and you get to be what?

what are western women offering the men and what are the islamics offering the men? its not any harder than that…

if western women had enough babies to secure their population based power, there would have been no need to import people to replace the children they didnt have!!!!!!!! however, if your going to hide the decline in population, your going to have to import people so that there isnt this decline in the total… ie. the population count counts the illegal immigrants as well as others and so makes one think that the population is not collapsing for the group that will suffer most as the point to moving them is to get the majority miknority to hate them to the point of exterminating them either by denial of opportunities or by outright attacks for which few are punished.

and its funny to read about it as people talkj about the decline and womens magazines out right lie to women

[the article below is a complicated litany that hides that things are collapsing, and that these majority people are alreayd in the minority, we are just waiting for the kids of others to grow up as they have been passed already]

Cant do that… if you do, then the population decline numbers cant be hidden… ie. you dont put warm bodies with lots of babies, and your total population declines, and then suddenly, the bs about how we have high birth rates (without qualifying its the immigrants that have that on tax dollars from the infertile women paying them – while the men bow out of society)

what would todays population be if immigration rates remained as they did when the population decimation was not evident?

while women in general are very stupid to listen to outside forces over the people who loved them, they certainly are not stupid enough if there isnt a way to play with the numbers to either confuse them or give them an alternative argument in fantasy!!!

Whites projected to become a US minority
    http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/6/25/whites-on-target-to-become-a-us-minority.html

The nation’s demographics are on a clear trajectory: White people are dying faster than they are being born, which means they are on target to become a minority in the United States in 30 years.

For the third year in a row, deaths of non-Hispanic whites outnumbered births, according to detailed population estimates for states and counties released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

“This is without historical precedent,” said Kenneth Johnson, the senior demographer at the University of New Hampshire’s Carsey School of Public Policy. “The minority population is growing, and the non-Hispanic white population is not.”

Whites currently account for 62 percent of the population but 78 percent of deaths, according to Johnson’s analysis

Their median age – half are older and half younger – has hit an all-time high of 43, said William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution. For the first time, whites are in the minority among children under the age of 5.

“Since 2010, the overall under age 20 population is declining, while working ages and especially seniors are growing,” Frey said.

White populations under 20 declined in 46 states – in all but Hawaii, Utah, South Dakota, North Dakota and the District of Columbia.

Non-Hispanic whites were the only group with a higher death rate than birthrate. As a result, their numbers grew the slowest: up 0.5 percent from 2013 to 2014, compared with 2.1 percent for Hispanics, 1.3 percent for black people, 3.2 percent for Asians, 1.4 percent for American Indians and Alaska Natives, and 2.3 percent for native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The July 1, 2014 estimates show that the millennial generation, those people born from 1982 to 2000, is the largest group in the U.S. totaling 83.1 million – one-quarter of the population. They outnumber the previously dominant baby boomer generation by almost 8 million.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Five jurisdictions are already majority-minority. Hawaii has the largest majority-minority at 77 percent, followed by the District of Columbia (64.2 percent), California (61.5 percent), New Mexico (61.1 percent) and Texas (56.5 percent) Nevada, now at 48.5 percent minority, is the next expected to cross the majority-minority threshold.

is really sad that you have to go to foregn press and evne the press of the islamics to find out the truth of the birth rate and what they are also considering gives them a chance to mvoe in and out birth the opposition.

I mean, isnt that what whites did to the american indians?

what did foreigners do to the native hawaiians?

    australia? etc…

its in front of you, but is it a reality you can accept?

  54. neo @ 8:36,

I can’t recall where I heard that accusation, looked again and couldn’t find it. So perhaps Lewis is not directly responsible for that lie.

However, as the widely acknowledged expert on Islam, it’s highly unlikely that had Lewis advised Bush that Islam was not a “religion of peace”… that Bush would have made that assertion.

    The quote you provide by Lewis exposes the problem;

“But Islam, like other religions, has also known periods when it inspired in some of its followers a mood of hatred and violence.

At times this hatred goes beyond hostility to specific interests or actions or policies or even countries and becomes a rejection of Western civilization as such, not only what it does but what it is, and the principles and values that it practices and professes.

In Islam the struggle of good and evil very soon acquired political and even military dimensions. Muhammad, it will be recalled, was not only a prophet and a teacher, like the founders of other religions; he was also the head of a polity and of a community, a ruler and a soldier.

Lewis’ statement that Islam has known “periods” is an implicit denial that hatred and violence is inherent to Islam. It ignores and therefore denies that Allah has repeatedly and explicitly commanded (not “inspired”) hatred and violence.

“At times” is another apologetic, whenever Islam has perceived itself to be in a position of strength it has sought expansion through violence. The “times” when it has not, it has been biding its time, until it can once again expand.

There is NO “struggle of good and evil” in Islam because its basic tenets are evil. The struggle between good and evil is within Muslim’s hearts. But the ideology itself has no struggle.

Muhammad claimed to be “a prophet and a teacher”. His tenets and actions decidedly prove otherwise. Nor was he “like the founders of other religions”, in fact just the opposite.

Lewis stating that Muhammad “was also the head of a polity and of a community, a ruler and a soldier” implicitly absolves Muhammad of his genocide, pedophilia and repeated monstrous behavior and totalitarian edicts.

Nor is the Islamic view, that the world and all mankind are divided into two: the Ummah and the House of War, which it is the duty of Muslims ultimately to bring to Islam… a classical ‘view’. It is the ONLY view because it is the one specifically commanded by Allah.

“Nor does he shrink from the idea that the more radical fundamentalist Islamic sect that have promoted this anti-Western rage are in fact a form of Islam.” neo

To call ‘radical’ Islamic terrorism a ‘form’ of Islam is to demonstrate either ignorance or denial, ‘radical’ Islamic terrorism IS Islam as commanded by Allah. If sincere… moderate, peaceful Muslims are in profound denial as to Islam’s inherent and theologically unchangeable nature.

When Lewis in response to the observation that many people state that, “Islam has nothing to do with terrorism” says, “Well, I cant subscribe to it since the terrorists themselves claim to be acting in the name of Islam.” he’s avoiding the issue because the terrorists are NOT ‘claiming’ to act in the name of Islam, they are faithfully following Muhammad and Allah’s clear and unequivocal commands and dictates.

“Nor does he reject the idea that Muslim terrorism has something to do with Islam” neo

Muslim terrorism does not have “something to do” with Islam. It is inherent to Islam and specifically commanded by both Allah and Muhammad.

I suggest that an excellent article for examing Lewis’ current position is, author Andrew Bostom’s “What Went Wrong With Bernard Lewis?”

Finally, on a related but tangential topic Lewis met with Dick Chaney and affirmed that the implantation of democracy in the M.E. was possible.

“A few months later, in a private dinner with Dick Cheney at the vice president’s residence, Mr. Lewis explained why he was cautiously optimistic the U.S. could gradually build democracy in Iraq, say others who attended.”

There’s a reason why Lewis is beloved among liberals neo and that reason is because he has repeatedly insisted that Islamic terrorism has “something to do” with Islam.

  55. “so far it looks like the Orlando police handled this as well as anyone could have.” yankee

Perhaps. It seems highly likely that Orlando’s SWAT team showed up within minutes of the start of the atrocity. They waited THREE HOURS before storming the building, all that time hearing shots inside the building, presumably having gotten from fleeing witnesses that there was a lone gunman. Plus, multiple entrances to the building.

Armed civilians within the building could have stopped this within minutes.

I have yet to see any questioning of why it took so long to storm the building.

  56. I don’t know if anyone is going to see this below Artfldgr’s several very long posts, but I have always been reluctant to call all these mass murders “terrorism.”

We are experiencing mass murders around the globe by Muslims. Been going on for quite a while, hasn’t it? It’s not exclusive to Muslims, who commit only 99% of the mass murders.

Mass murderers have intentional targets; e.g. homosexuals in a homosexual night club in Orlando. Or non-Muslim white people watching the Boston Marathon. Or thousands of people doing financial work in the World Trade Center.

Terrorism implies utter randomness, and most mass killings throughout history have had specific targets, some of which Artfldgr has detailed.

I vote to replace “terrorism” with “mass murder”.

Murderers have accomplices. The Iranian Muslim dictatorship is/has clearly committing many mass murders. With the “Iran Deal”, Barack Hussein and John Eff Kerry are accomplices in the Iranian mass murders to come (of Iranians and others). Accomplices before fact of the murders. In fact, by doing nothing against Islam in America, by celebrating Ramadan in the White House, by allowing CAIR to exist unprosecuted, Barack Hussein Obama is the Big Accomplice of Islamic Mass Murder here. And we are told he is Christian!

  57. Obey the Police, they will protect you. That’s what people thought, didn’t they, when they were too weak to defend themselves. Well, being weak was their problem, not the police’s or the Hussein Regime’s problem.

  58. Spent much of the weekend getting the back acres mown so it looks almost like a park; what with the fruit trees and the woods at the back. The weather has been cool enough to make working out of doors a pleasure.

Noticed this morning that there had been a commotion of some kind in Florida the other day and that an article in a British paper was linked to on Drudge.

It stated that some number of people “were slayed”.

The Left accuses their enemies of being, what the Left always was. It’s a trick they were using long before 2003.

  60. The AP this AM reports, “The presumptive Republican nominee [Trump] also appeared to suggest that President Barack Obama may sympathize with Islamic terrorists – a stunning statement about the current commander in chief.

“He doesn’t get it or, or he gets it better than anybody understands,” Trump said on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends.” ”It’s one or the other. And either one is unacceptable.”
    ************
    I agree.

  61. Just occurred to me:
Remember when Hillary was always Hillary Rodham Clinton? Now she is always Hillary Clinton.
And Barack Hussein Obama is always Barack Obama.

  62. Frog @ 11:35,

I can’t agree that “terrorism implies utter randomness”. Terrorism’s target is always specific, even when it is directed at a society, such as 9/11. The attack in Orlando was directed at America, for its toleration of what Islam perceives as sexual ‘deviancy’ and also at the gay attendees, as the most visible practitioners of that deviancy.

“Mass murderers” disconnects Islamic jihadists from the source of their ideology. An alienated, antisocial individual whose actions are divorced from any political or ideological motivation is a mass murderer.

  63. Neo: 8:36pm reply to Geoffrey Britain: Amen.

IDK. Don’t really want to second guess them in doing their job. We’ve got to trust that they know what they are doing, until we have something to go on that definitely points that they are incompetent.

This kind of thinking is not far from those who second guessed the need to shoot the gorilla recently. “Couldn’t they use a tranquilizer?” is asked as if those running the zoo didn’t have enough incentive at wanting to keep the gorilla alive too.

The left play that game all the time with police shootings.
    .

“Armed civilians within the building could have stopped this within minutes. “

Maybe – certainly a good chance to. Regardless, it likely would have mitigated some of the loss of life, if not be a deterrent to begin with.

It is not a surprise that the gunman targeted who he did, besides the “offense” to his moral views – people who are very likely against the 2nd Amendment, and therefore unarmed.

  65. Not sure what the disagreement is about the statistics for number killed.

In my opinion, when the press trumpets that this is the worst mass shooting–or mass murder– in history, they are deliberately attempting to convince the uninformed that guns are always the weapon of choice when mass killing is perpetrated.

As already mentioned, 87 dies in the Happyland fire in which the weapons were a gallon of gasoline, and a match. Then, of course, we should not overlook Oklahoma City where 168 died, and the weapon was basically fertilizer.

There is a narrative from the left. They seize every event, and distort when necessary, to further the narrative. We need to be vigilant to not assist them; and we should counter their false rhetoric where possible.

  66. Oldflyer

Exactly right. The Left’s narrative is wrong. This should be called what is: The second worst attack by Islamists on American soil.

The anti-gun stuff is a distraction. Left wants to spin this as a “gun safety” issue.

Any large soft target in America could be hit by the Islamists. America is under attack; not just LGBTQ America.

  67. Frog

What I think you are missing is the political/religous aspect of terrorism. A mass murderer can be Charlie Starkweather driving around NE and killing people. The 9-11 people had a political goal to their murders.

Today Obama called the attacks “extremism.” He never identifies the source of the extremism: Islam.

  68. NeoConScum,

I am not disputing Dr. Lewis’ expertise. I am questioning his willingness to speak to the heart of the matter. Beware of “argumentum ad verecundiam”, as experts are always authorities but frequently less than honest with themselves … and self-deception ensures it will be extended to others.

    Big Maq,

I was questioning what were the apparent actions of the Orlando police. As inconvenient questions not asked are frequently ignored.

That said, I just read a report that the cops did storm the building much earlier, where they trapped the terrorist in a bathroom, where he had hostages. Then they took 3 hours, trying to negotiate before breaking a hole in the wall where the hostages were able to escape through. That puts an entirely different light upon the issue.

  69. Related but slightly off topic, has é nyone else noted the incredibly sloppy state of reportage?

I’m not referring to bias but sheer incompetence… with the most obvious points and questions being commonly ignored.

  70. Geoffrey Britain:

The sloppy state of reportage is a given at this point. They cover all these incidents quite poorly, I think. Of course, it’s somewhat of a “fog of war” situation, plus they are racing to beat each other with scoops. So a lot of rumors get printed, a lot of stuff also gets omitted, and of course they also are trying to be PC at the same time.

I find that in general the British press is better at covering our own terrorist attacks.

  71. I am watching Hillary and she is talking about what she is going to do to stop terrorism if elected. More sanctions, attack ISIS, stop selling “weapons of war” etc.

I’m thinking why didn’t you do this at State? What has Obama been doing the past seven years?

Now she said “hate crimes against Muslims and mosques” have tripled.

She has failed. Why elect her and her failed approach?

  72. IDK. Don’t really want to second guess them in doing their job. We’ve got to trust that they know what they are doing, until we have something to go on that definitely points that they are incompetent.

Not necessary. Look up the number of seconds no knock SWAT raids wait.

Don’t believe the rumors, look it up yourself, from the police records of their own SWAT raids.

  73. “She has failed. Why elect her and her failed approach?” Cornhead

Because she serves the narrative. That narrative has become the world view for hundreds of millions and composes the filters through which they perceive reality. Many will die before they would seriously question, in any sort of fundamental way, what they believe to be true. Their identity, self-worth and pride are unalterably bound to that narrative.

Dialog from the movie, “The Wild Bunch”
Pike Bishop: A hell of a lot of people, Dutch, just can’t stand to be wrong.
    Dutch Engstrom: Pride.
Pike Bishop: And they can’t forget it… that pride… being wrong. Or learn by it…

Perhaps more than any other factor, Islam is forcing within the minds of liberals, a struggle between the narrative and reality.

“I’m a Gay Activist, and After Orlando, I Have Switched My Vote to Trump”

(American journos – an oxymoron, really – are all cognitive-dissonance challenged self-serving mouth breathers. Or outright liars. I go either way: your choice.)

Well, that and a glance at the blogs, if I have time. Or I’m looking for punditry.

Except for here: I check in at least daily at neo (even when I vehemently disagree – cough “trump” cough– at least there is that strong sense of journalistic integrity ..for which I am profoundly grateful: kudos deserved, neo).

…but I only read the comments these days when I have time and/or it’s a biggie. (To me: i.e., “biggie to me”.)

    Like today.

…kudos to @artfldgr for the above rants. (Not being sarcastic: he’s always interesting, and he puts in the time lol.)

I am watching Hillary and she is talking about what she is going to do to stop terrorism if elected. More sanctions, attack ISIS, stop selling “weapons of war” etc.

I’m thinking why didn’t you do this at State? What has Obama been doing the past seven years?

Now she said “hate crimes against Muslims and mosques” have tripled.”

More bathroom equality. More inclusion, more sharing of pain, and drama. That is what is needed. Then all will be well.

  76. OM The Authorities and their enforcement squads should always be watched over for flaws and corruptions. Americans outsourcing the security and power to DC and to government goon squads, is why the US is where it is right now.

Another Waco 2 will happen and people will still be blaming it on biker clubs trying to shoot each other, without an impartial analysis of the authorities and their justifications.

If people are so shaking in their boots to question their Authorities and Government sanctioned assault squads, that’s their problem. A Republic they didn’t manage to keep.

Besides, if the Orlando SWAT team performed to spec or above the expected results, people should be dissecting their SOP to figure out what makes them different from the rest. Maybe they received real military and police training, and not from CAIR. That would be something people should broadcast and learn about, if they were paying attention to ensuring their own Security Instead of Outsourcing it to their Masters.

  77. I always check The Daily Mail (link to US news) first these days. Most days, they’re all I check. The Brit’s still have some professional journalists in the biz. Better yet, they have a modicum of intelligence, integrity, & pride in their craft.

I also said the Daily Mail, for the past few years, were much more accurate. They, like tabloids, actually have their own reporters. Everything you read from Yahoo and other American networks are from the AP, Associated Press. It’s like Journolist, they are ALL in on it, one way or another. They use the same editors, headlines, propaganda posters, everything is fit to form.

Which is why Daily Mail has pictures you don’t see duplicated. They actually seem to hire their own photographers and researchers and reporters. They don’t just buy into the AP bank. They’re almost like tabloid sources, thus, scooping for some stuff. Which makes the British press “bad” for celebrities, but good for the rest of us who want actual content.

They could have, should have ….. is easy, The officer took a bullet in the head as part of the job, but was fortunate to have been wearing a good enough helmet.

Learning from what worked and didn’t is not as easy in many cases IMO. Especially if fundamental assumptions are flawed.

Victor Davis Hanson has pointed out that a major strength of the west (in warfare) is the critique and questioning of what worked, what failed, and why. He also points to democracies’ propensity to jump to quick “easy” solutions offered to the people from “leaders” that didn’t work.

Second guessing without facts from the incident doesn’t help much.

  79. Geoffrey B./1:00pm: Yep. Not the grewat Dr. Lewis, however. Nor, for that matter, Dr. Ajami (RIP).

  80. “..great..” &%$#ed keyboard…or, Windows 10.1. Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….!!

  81. They could have, should have ….. is easy,

If it was easy, police county level SWAT teams would be able to find the right address in their hit list.

Allowing the State to take care of you, is one additional step into hell, just don’t blame it on others when your own actions bring you your logical reward.

  82. He also points to democracies’ propensity to jump to quick “easy” solutions offered to the people from “leaders” that didn’t work.

Athenian democracy was poisonous. Just like the US version when they lost and killed the Republic.

All the more important that each individual must be held to account and must hold others to account, including people society has placed over them, such as the police, lawyers, politicians, and leaders.

Relying on dear leaders or police protectors to guard and watch themselves, was the mistake to begin with. You will find, OM, that allowing the police to kill all the Socrates like enemies of the state, will not avail you of much in the end. What’s easy is allowing the media, your leaders and your Leftist police unions, to dictate what the truth is.
