Terror in Nice — 51 Comments

  1. Such a mortality figure via murderous truck sounds like many were run over after having fallen or bein knocked down. Women and children not only unspared, but easier prey.

  2. Scary world. To date, we can probably be thankful that terrorists are relatively stupid and narcissistic, but that seems to be changing as the numbers of them, both active and potential, grows.

Attacks like the one tonight are damned near impossible to foil if someone decides to perform one, and it is surprising to me that large motor vehicles haven’t been used until now against crowded streets and sidewalks.

  3. Europeans are catching hell. It is ironic that their immigration and refugee policies have backfired so violently. (I know that the immigration policies had a self-serving component of importing cheap labor.)

There should be lessons to be learned. The obvious being not to accept foreigners who cannot, or will not, assimilate into your culture. Of course if you do not know who is entering your country, then you are helpless.

I wonder how Americans would react in the face slaughter on the level that is occurring around the world on a continuing basis. The 9-11 attacks were a shock, but subsequent ones have been relatively small scale compared to what others are suffering. We may yet be tested.

I expect that our national leadership will make the usual feckless noises.

Scary world. To date, we can probably be thankful that terrorists are relatively stupid and narcissistic, but that seems to be changing as the numbers of them, both active and potential, grows. “

We have sunken freeways from which one cannot easily exit or flee, long traffic tunnels, overpasses that make good platforms, and plenty of motivated Muslims to make use of them. Just wait and see.

The California shooter was planning just such an attack, but it never came off.

A few shooters with automatic weapons, a few improvised explosives, rush hour traffic, and a population of guilt ridden breast beating masochists just begging to be murdered. What more could a good Jihadist ask for?

  5. The Religion of Peaceâ„¢ at work.

I heard a Muslim eyewitness claim that Islam had nothing to do with this and the killer was mentally ill. The problem is that the political-social system that is Islam feeds and enables this terror. Mohammed was a war lord.

  6. Will France ever have another ‘je sui’ solidarity march?

Even now, Sweden plans to set up a ‘refugee’ center of 2000… on an island with a Swedish pop. of 137…

Over here, every attack in another country increases the psychological effect and will heighten public reaction to a domestic attack. It’s just a matter of time till an attack takes place in an American mall ala Mumbai, till an attack on an American school ala the 2004 Beslan terror attack, where 186 children and 148 adults were slaughtered.

Our water supplies are vulnerable. Just 9 electrical grid substations stand between us and lights out… Obama has facilitated the importation of thousands of potential jihadists…

  7. This just breaking:

FBI Director James Comey said Tuesday that he would not recommend charges against the so-called mentally ill truck driver over his use of an unlicensed assault truck against private citizens. Thus removing a huge shadow hovering over the Bastille Day celebration.

But Comey administered an extraordinary tongue-lashing to all right wing extremists and their supporters, rebuking them, and warning against any response in the face of the latest unfortunate ‘incident’.

Meanwhile Secretary of State Kerry dispatched has-been singer James Taylor to Nice to serenade the fearful muslim community with “You’ve Got a Friend” in an attempt to quiet their fears of an extremist right wing backlash. Muslim leaders say that “our community cannot withstand another “Bring back our girls” hashtag campaign or “We are all Charlie Hebdo” campaign.”

President Obama has come out punching back twice as hard and advocatingthe banning of assault trucks.

    Developing…

Seriously, my prayers go out to those who were senselessly murdered or injured.

  8. The murder machine is TOO BIG to do much zig-zagging.

It was simply TOO FAST for anyone to get out of the way.

We forget how slow we are compared to even a slow speed vehicle.

Such jihad works because Muslim jihadis violate ALL social norms — world wide.

ALL policing, anywhere, is based upon normalized human behavior.

Jihad works by taking society backwards into feral behavior.

The jihadis can dish it out — they can’t take it.

ISIS is in a state of collapse.

    Just too much damage.

The aerial campaigns will only up-tempo from here.

  9. Muslims are falling all over themselves to declare that these attacks are not sanctioned by their religion. Our pitiful President furthers the narrative. My response; your rhetoric in the wake of an attack means nothing. If you are serious, police yourselves. Take meaningful action against the mosques that preach the “expletive deleted” that encourages this insanity. Imans, make it an offense against Islam to visit web sites that preach hate; sanction those who do. It is not like your religion is known for civil liberties anyway. In other words, put up or shut up.

Why are we not holding regimes like the Saudis accountable for the money that spews from their Royal Oligarchs to terrorist groups around the world? We do not need their oil now–what is the excuse? Put an embargo on the oil if they do not toe the line. Terrorist groups need money. The sources can be identified.

The killer in Nice reportedly had a truck full of weapons and explosives, He did not buy those on his debit card. He was funded and supported by an entity with resources. Possibly a nominally friendly regime. Are we afraid to destabilize autocratic regimes that are known to be terrorist friendly? Are chaotic countries more dangerous than rich pseudo-friendly ones that quietly fund the groups who do the dirty work? Should we worry if there is another unstable country or two in a region characterized by instability?

Does the government of the United States have an clue?

I know. Preaching to the choir. Sometimes you just have to vent.

  10. Some very good commentary tonight on Vince the Megyn Kelly show. Especially by General Flynn, Zhudi Jasser, Brad Thor, and Bill Bennett. These men are all saying what I have been for years – go after the Wahhabi/Salafi/political Islam/Sharia ideology, their imams, and their financiers. Yes, there is a military, political, and economic strategy to be executed as well, but the Islamic fundamentalist ideology must be attacked as well. Muslims who do not renounce sharia and the intolerance of Wahhabism can never assimilate in the West. They must be excluded from Western civilized societies and, if necessary, eliminated.

  11. That is: “…..commentary tonight on the Megyn Kelly show. Especially by General Vince Flynn…..”

  12. blert,

Rhetorical question; what do you do with a rabid dog?

    Oldflyer,
85% of American mosques contain written materials that advocate violence. 100% of American mosques preach from the Qur’an, which contains over a hundred passages advocating violence against the infidel.

    J.J.,

That prescription is certainly far superior to the Obama administration’s facilitation of Islamic jihad. But it makes the mistake of falsely separating Islam into ‘fundamentalist’ (radical) and ‘moderate’ Islam. There is only Islam and the difference between a radical Muslim and a moderate Muslim is the degree of devoutness and self-honesty.

A strategy which only seeks to attack ‘radical Islam’ necessarily avoids identifying the source of Islamic terrorism and can only achieve a temporary peace.

Only by identifying Islam itself as the source can the disease be addressed. Islam itself must be held accountable.

  13. Saudi Arabia exports and funds terrorism. We pay them for their oil so we are funding our own terrorists. Over the last year the Sauds have pumped at 110% and bankrupted nearly 100 American oil companies. But we have more oil than the rest of the world. With smart policy we could bankrupt Aramaco and have relatively cheap and plentiful energy here.

This disaster is all on Obama.

  14. G.B. “There is only Islam and the difference between a radical Muslim and a moderate Muslim is the degree of devoutness and self-honesty. ”

Then how do we explain the Kurds? Then how do we explain Muslims like Zhudi Jasser, or General el Sisi, or any number of Muslims who do not subscribe to Salafi/Wahhabi doctrine? If you listen to the Wahhabi imams they will tell you they are the only true Muslims, but there are millions of Muslims who do not follow their ideology. I know you are convinced that Islam cannot undergo a reformation as Christianity and Judaism did because of the doctrine that the Quran is the literal word of Allah. But there are millions of Muslims who have no idea what is in the Quran. Their only source of information is their imam. Since the 1960s the Saudis have been sending Wahhabi imams out to preach their venom. As they have spread their venom, the “Muslim problem” has blossomed. If we don’t enlist moderate Muslims to challenge the Wahhabi doctrine, the only other option is to kill them until they reject Wahhabism much as the Germans rejected Nazism and the Japanese rejected Bushido Shintoism. Because of instant communications and videos that butcher’s bill will not be acceptable to the civilized world. There are too many who want to “give peace a chance,” or send out tweets “#We stand with you.” We could not win WWII today. We are too sensitive.

  15. Malls, water supplies, stadiums…. I remember a conversation with my brother a few days after 9/11 in which we discussed all the relatively simple, relatively small-scale things terrorists could do that could very seriously damage and demoralize society. But they seemed to be focused on the big spectacular attack. I’m afraid they’ve finally caught on.

  16. Slightly off topic: Trump delayed announcing his pick for a running mate. Newt Gingrich made a very strong statement about deporting Muslims who adhere to shariah; picked up by The Hill. Coincidence?

  17. The Ku Klux Klan at its most powerful, from Reconstruction through the 1920s and 30s, were mostly Southern Baptists. Yet only a small percentage of Southern Baptists joined the Klan.

Above, the Kurds are mentioned. Likewise, Lebanon has a high percentage of Sunnis who hate this shit. Translators have served heroically alongside US troops.

It’s a difficult problem. I don’t have the answer. Too bad both Petraeus and McCrystal were brought down he way they were.

  18. Huge difference: Jesus NEVER told his followers to do what the KKK did. Mohammed DID command his followers to rape and conquer and put to the sword all who resisted his “religion.”

Oh, and “Allah” is not “God,” any more than Allah is “Buddha.” Trying to equate their deity with the God of the Bible just muddies the waters, fatally from an ideological standpoint.

No worries tho: the Swedes have an answer to all the mass rapes by Moslems in their country: their government is handing out wristbands for the girls to wear, saying “Don’t Molest!”

HOLY FERTILIZER. (Yes, this is really true: http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/06/30/wristbands-stop-sex-attacks/ )

    They are all Schmoos now.

    ——-

Even the muslims who have fought along with western troops haven’t turned against Islam itself.
Or if they have, I haven’t heard about it.

    ???

“Then how do we explain the Kurds? Then how do we explain Muslims like Zhudi Jasser, or General el Sisi, or any number of Muslims who do not subscribe to Salafi/Wahhabi doctrine?”

J.J.’s point about Wahhabi doctrine is well taken. Not all Muslims are Wahhabis. The Shia hate the Wahhabis. They support terrorism and hate Israel but they hate Wahhabis.

El Sisi is not such a good example. He went to Al-Azhar University and asked the theologians to change the orthodox interpretation of mainstream Islam so they will not have to kill the rest of the World’s population. That action by El Sisi reflects well on him but damns Islam since it is an admission that as it stands, Islam does support eliminating infidels through violence. Any Muslim who supports Sharia law wants do enslave or murder all infidels. A large percent of Muslims World Wide who are not Wahhabis still support Sharia law.

  21. JJ,

Difference between Islam and Islamism. Islamist approach looks strikingly like (revolutionary) Marxism.

  22. J.J.

Thanks for pointing out the rather large “details” which are not overlooked but embraced in Geoffrey’s argument/solution.

  23. Oldflyer:
“I wonder how Americans would react in the face slaughter on the level that is occurring around the world on a continuing basis.”

The general will of We the People is a function of activism.

Individuals can react a certain way. A large aggregate, perhaps even majority of individuals can share similar reactions. In the traditional political relationship, the Commander in Chief would more or less follow the contours of those reactions, all things else from the perspective of his Office considered: the primary example is President Bush’s reaction to 9/11.

But manufacturing the bundle of individual reactions into a social response is a function of activism and, in that aspect, leadership.

Under current leadership, how social America collectively, as opposed to individual (even a majority of) Americans, might react, that question goes to the Commander in Chief and, more significantly, the socially dominant social activist movement chiefly responsible for manufacturing his presidency in the 1st place by manufacturing the zeitgeist, often in contravention of the facts, eg, starting with their easily demonstrably false yet nonetheless prevailing narrative of OIF.

They might not always manufacture a social reaction that’s obviously distinct from the aggregate of individual reactions. But they can at least channel it, mute it, redefine it, etc, using the same basic activist manufacturing process applied by Left-mimicking Trump-front alt-Right activists in the GOP primaries, who commandeered the same raw discontent that by 1st dibs and proper rights should have fueled a GOP conservative candidate (eg, Cruz) and manufactured it to fuel the Trump phenomenon, instead.

    Oldflyer:
“Why are we not holding regimes like the Saudis accountable for the money that spews from their Royal Oligarchs to terrorist groups around the world?”

Apparently, we already did after 9/11. Or they adjusted on their own after 9/11. See http://www.thenational.ae/opinion/comment/old-myths-perpetuate-poor-analysis-of-saudi

  24. Add: But with Obama trying so hard and having done so much to boost Iran, I wouldn’t be surprised if Saudi Arabia reverts.

  25. Moving stuff around in the house, came across an old copy of The Moon is Down. Read the last few pages….
    Just sayin’

A drawn-out terror event like Beslan, especially outside a city, will, imo, draw a number of armed citizens, possibly more than the cops. The cops will control them at the scene. They’ll go away, eventually, incandescent with horror and frustrated fury.
If you have any Muslim friends, you might, with apologies, suggest they always have their car gassed up and a bag with spare undies handy.
No need to discuss the justice of the possibility; no more than the injustice of having to be alert for tornadoes when you live in Kansas.
Or they could start dropping the dime. Both Brit and US law enforcement have said the Muslim community’s help in anti-terror work is almost non-existent.
My physician is, I think from the last name, Sikh in origin. The other two in the practice have non-Wasp names and one has an accent. If TSHTF, I may be inviting them to visit us. We keep spare toothbrushes around in case visitors get snowed in, so I guess we could cope.
Meantime, I wonder of any of my comments here or elsewhere are going to cause the LE to run a civil asset forfeiture on me.
I never thought it would come to this. I suppose a lot of people have said that over the millenia.

  26. What really stings here is that solutions to these problems are known. They have been used before, and they work. The question is whether we have the will, and the resolve, to make use of them.

    Here’s one example:
    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/261954/how-american-soldiers-used-pigs-blood-and-corpses-daniel-greenfield

Another example has been used successfully in Israel. Suicide terrorists there were fond of proclaiming: “we love death as you love life”. This was, I presume, intended to terrorize, and to suggest that such terrorists could not be deterred — because how can you deter a man (or woman) already joyously anticipating death? Israel found a way — by instituting a policy of finding the families of such terrorists, evicting them from their homes, and then utterly demolishing those homes. The terrorists HATED that… which caused it to serve as a deterrent.

And that’s the idea. You make it crystal-clear what behavior is unacceptable, and that steps will be taken if this behavior does not stop. Then steps are taken, not for vengeance, not in an ‘eye for an eye’ sense, but with a clear message: “You have hurt us, and have refused to stop hurting us. We will therefore hurt you, and we will aim our actions to hit you where it hurts you, until you stop.”

By the way — our enemy need not be Islam, or Muslims in general. Our enemy is those who would kill infidels in the name of Islam. To that end, we need to be willing to say: “We have no quarrel with Islam. Pray to Allah to your heart’s content, as our Constitution guarantees you the right to do. But Islam does not excuse you from following the laws of the land — and that includes not only laws against murder, but laws against incitement, and all the rest.” We then can — and should, and must — shut down the mosques that incite violence. And when home-grown terrorism happens, as it will, we must find the steps that the terrorists themselves find abhorrent, to use as a deterrent. The two mentioned above might be a good start, but no doubt other approaches can be found.

This country must be willing to say: if we have zero-tolerance in our schools, where a student is punished for merely carrying an aspirin or a pocketknife, then we certainly should have zero-tolerance for the actions of terrorism.

Will such steps be taken? I remain hopeful. But rationally, I’m not expecting much… not from a country that seems to think terrorism can be fought by making all adults take off their shoes at airports.

  27. The top ten countries who consume internet porn include eight that are Muslim, beginning with Pakistan, Egypt. and Iran. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Philippines.

Poland sneaks onto the list at #10.

When I was in Tangier, a friendly Moroccan who spoke good English talked to me about how he disapproved of Khomeini and didn’t care about Israel, but then, after laughing about Baywatch, said, “How can you let your women go naked like this?” He was agitated, and didn’t want to let it go. “What if it was your sister?”

  29. G.B. “There is only Islam and the difference between a radical Muslim and a moderate Muslim is the degree of devoutness and self-honesty. ”

“Then how do we explain the Kurds? Then how do we explain Muslims like Zhudi Jasser, or General el Sisi, or any number of Muslims who do not subscribe to Salafi/Wahhabi doctrine?” JJ

Tribalism. The Kurd’s focus is upon gaining their independence from Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. At this time that dynamic supersedes any other consideration.

Zhudi Jasser is a good man in deep denial as to the inherent nature of the ideology he embraces.

General el Sisi is a pragmatist. His primary point is that acting upon Allah’s and Muhammad’s dictates is ultimately, suicidal. To my knowledge, he has never claimed that Islam is a religion of peace. He does not dispute the inherent nature of Islam, he simply advocates ignoring Allah’s commands to make war upon the infidel. I doubt if he has strenuous objections to stealth jihad or hijrah jihad.

I explain the majority of Muslims who do not subscribe to Salafi/Wahhabi doctrine by first pointing out that there is NO Salafi/Wahhabi “doctrine”, since all that Salifists and Wahhabists fundamentally preach is that Muslims have a theological obligation to implement ALL of Allah’s commands. Salifists and Wahhabists disagree the way Lutherans and Methodists disagree. Shias and Sunnis, the way that Catholics and Protestants disagree.

ALL ‘radical’ Muslim ‘doctrines’ are simply various forms of insistence that Muslims must fully follow Allah’s will as set down in the Qur’an and demonstrated by Muhammad’s words and actions.

Which leads to and supports my assertion; “the [primary] difference between a radical Muslim and a moderate Muslim is their degree of devoutness and self-honesty.”

The more faithful a Muslim is to following Allah’s commands, the more devout. The less willing to admit to Islam’s inherent nature, the less honest a Muslim is to both others and themselves.

Yes, sure … focus only on the so-called “bad”. But you never stop to think of all the good things jihadi Muslims have done to improve our lives and social relations and truly make America the place we want it to be.

I remember the bad old days when my father took us to D.C. and walked us right into Bureau headquarters to give us a glimpse of the place and an idea of the environment he had worked in years before.

None of that exclusion-enabled insensitive presumed privilege nonchalance nowadays. And we are now better and more feeling persons for it. Our helpless deaths will be beautiful … experienced all together … the fat, the neurotic … the sexually diverse … What a Statement!

  31. Anerica the country being free and open has ALWAYS been an easy target for people who come here and targeted various ways.. most though, target to use its money against itself…

but the world is no more scarier than in the past, and in fact, the past was a lot more scarier..

in an open society as we have, the ONLY way to prevent or mitigate some of this is in choosing who you let in or not..

if that man was in another place, he could not drive the truck

but as long as there is a perosn who wants to do something bad, and we have open state, and literally everything is constructed for open living, this and more is going ot happen

even police states cant stop stuff from happening

however, police states like soviet russia were constructed differently and even did things to mitigate this kind of stuff as a course of daily living

for instance, in soviet times, the maps that were in stations and such, were wrong… why? when a force invades, they take maps to fill in for stuff they did not carry with them.. having wrong maps would give one an advantage in such an invasion

however they did produce very good maps of enemies areas, like ny…

During the Cold War, the Soviet military mapped the entire world, parts of it down to the level of individual buildings. The Soviet maps of US and European cities have details that aren’t on domestic maps made around the same time, things like the precise width of roads, the load-bearing capacity of bridges, and the types of factories. They’re the kinds of things that would come in handy if you’re planning a tank invasion. Or an occupation. Things that would be virtually impossible to find out without eyes on the ground.

Given the technology of the time, the Soviet maps are incredibly accurate. Even today, the US State Department uses them (among other sources) to place international boundary lines on official government maps.
    http://www.wired.com/2015/07/secret-cold-war-maps/

The maps are still a taboo topic in Russia today, so it’s impossible to know for sure, but what they’re finding suggests that the Soviet military maps were far more than an invasion plan. Rather, they were a framework for organizing much of what the Soviets knew about the world, almost like a mashup of Google Maps and Wikipedia, built from paper.

Indeed, not all maps were created equal in the USSR. While the military maps were extremely accurate, the maps available to ordinary citizens were next to useless.
    -=-=-=-=-=-=-
the maps for the masses were deliberately distorted with a special projection that introduced random variations. “The main goal was to crush the contents of maps so it would be impossible to recreate the real geography of a place from the map,” Postnikov tells me. Well-known landmarks like rivers and towns were depicted, but the coordinates, directions, and distances were all off, making them useless for navigation or military planning, should they fall into enemy hands. The cartographer who devised this devious scheme was awarded the State Prize by Stalin.

and the american left thing the US was paranoid…
the russians were and are so paranoid that they would destroy their own economic system to prevent an external one from gaining.. however, this was the same as removing all guns from all people for the few that use them for bad acts…

ie. an extreme solution that doesnt work and causes more problems than what it fixes.

  32. There is obviously an epidemic of truck violence in France. They need some common sense truck control.

  33. hey had mapped nearly the entire world at three scales. The most detailed of these three sets of maps, at a scale of 1:200,000, consisted of regional maps. A single sheet might cover the New York metropolitan area, for example.

But they didn’t stop there. The Soviets made far more detailed maps of some parts of the world. They mapped all of Europe, nearly all of Asia, as well as large parts of North America and northern Africa at 1:100,000 and 1:50,000 scales, which show even more features and fine-grained topography. Another series of still more zoomed-in maps, at 1:25,000 scale, covers all of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, as well as hundreds or perhaps thousands of foreign cities. At this scale, city streets and individual buildings are visible.

And even that wasn’t the end of it. The Soviets produced hundreds of remarkably detailed 1:10,000 maps of foreign cities, mostly in Europe, and they may have mapped the entire USSR at this scale, which Watt estimated would take 440,000 sheets.

All in all, Watt estimated that the Soviet military produced more than 1.1 million different maps.

all worked by hand all very accurate and able
which shows how bad the state games have to be to negate the ability fo the russian people, who when not put upon, could do amazing things as the westerners did

Stalin’s successor, Nikita Khrushchev, saw fertile ground for the spread of communism in a world in which former European colonies were quickly gaining their independence, says Nick Baron, a historian at the University of Nottingham. “Khrushchev was exhilarated by the prospect of winning over these newly liberated countries in Africa, South Asia, and so on,” Baron says. “It was around that time that the military first began to undertake foreign mapping, including sending their own cartographers abroad to conduct their own surveys in many of these developing countries.”

it was very easy for them to do this in the US as you could just get good maps then add to them

Literaly thousands of operatives in the US and other countries worked on this and more

as i have pointed out to no reaction, they put out over a quarter million operatives a year who work in other countries like the USA (made easier by the false fall of the soviet union and open borders), and whose service time is many decades long

The US military’s air superiority made mapping at medium scales adequate for most areas of the globe,” Forbes says. As a result, he says, the US military rarely made maps more detailed than 1:250,000, and generally only did so for areas of special strategic interest. “The Soviets, on the other hand, were the global leaders in tank technology,” Forbes says. After suffering horrific losses during the Nazi ground invasion in WWII, the Soviets had built up the world’s most powerful army. Maneuvering that army required large-scale maps, and lots of them, to cover smaller areas in more detail. “One to 50,000 scale is globally considered among the military to be the tactical scale for ground forces,” Forbes says. “These maps were created so that if and when the Soviet military was on the ground in any given place, they would have the info they needed to get from point A to point B.”

given that the middle east and islam has been russias baby since before hitlers dealings with the grand mufti, you can guarantee that the people acting out for islam, are also part of that chain too… (probably the people sending others not the ones sent themselves)

they provide weapons, explosives, minimum expertise, advise, equipment, and instructions of how to not reveal where this comes from… and they are BETTER at it than the USA is in terms of their agents, dedication and so on.

a Minnesota company with a large inventory of Soviet maps, gives some insight into how the topographic maps could be used in planning or executing combat operations. It includes tables on the range of audibility of various sounds (a snapping twig can be heard up to 80 meters away; troop movements on foot, up to 300 meters on a dirt road or 600 meters on a highway; an idling tank, up to 1,000 meters; a rifle shot, up to 4,000 meters).

Other tables give the distances for visual objects (a lit cigarette can be visible up to 8,000 meters away at night, but you’d have to get within 100 meters to make out details of a soldier’s weaponry in daylight). Still more tables estimate the speed at which troops can move depending on the slope of the terrain, the width and condition of the roadway, and whether they are on foot, in trucks, or in tanks.

The maps themselves include copious text with detailed descriptions of the area they depict, everything from the materials and conditions of the roads to the diameter and spacing of the trees in a forest to the typical weather at different times of year.

the above should give one a bit of pause as to what we are and were up against.

and people like to pish tosh them as incompetent and unable.. but thats their ECONOMY not their state or military… duh.

so if you think that about them then what is wrong with that thinking today about their military ability, equipment, etc?

THAT should keep people up at night more than other things, but they are ingorant of it, and they believe their opposition is not as great as they are when now, our equipment is less prepared for the nuclear battle the other two states have been planning for ages and even taking the time to insert false information and attitudes in the USA using a whole other group of operateves just as dedicated and thorough as those that made maps detailing the average separation of trees.

    sigh…
we are very much unprepared for whats coming
even more so that we cant ask olur enemyh to manufacture things for us while they are destroying our economy…

    can we?

and our kids, thanks to socialism in schools, and feminism are HIGHLY disfunctional.. while those backwards russians are still skilled at living in the real world during hard times that never really ended and kept them prepared

a westerner looks at a russian truck and says, see how primitive it is, it has no computer and that.

military people and i look at it, and see a easy to repair item, that is immune to nuclear pulse, and will work when ours sit dead like 45 ton paperweights (as the hardened chips, viruses from china in chips, and such also make up their insides and so will fail)

Despite the Ordnance Survey’s copyright claim, Davies argues that the Soviet maps aren’t mere copies. In many places, they show new construction–roads, bridges, housing developments, and other features that don’t appear on contemporary Ordnance Survey maps. Many of these details, Davies argues, came from aerial or satellite reconnaissance (the first Soviet spy satellite, Zenit, was launched into orbit in 1962). Other details, such as notes on the construction materials and conditions of roadways and bridges, seemingly had to come from agents on the ground (or, according to one account from a Swedish counterintelligence officer, by picnicking Soviet diplomats with a preference for sites near objects of strategic interest).

    so much more…

but how can you fill in the hole that our society put in our heads and we are too lazy or incurious to learn about and so make a valid assesment?

but isnt that the point of losing

  34. By the way, if your wondering why the US does not suffer as much or have as much things happen its NOT the lack of intelligence or the love of big things

its that this is the soviet world games here, and they forbid such action in the US mostly because it would reverse 70 years of social molding of the thoughts of the population..

you can read of similar stuff in the link i put up many times “The arafat i knew”
    https://webhome.weizmann.ac.il/home/comartin/israel/pacepa-wsj.html

In 1972, the Kremlin established a “socialist division of labor” for supporting international terrorism. Romania’s main clients in this new market were Libya and the PLO. A year later, a Romanian intelligence adviser assigned to the PLO headquarters in Beirut reported that Arafat and his KGB handlers were preparing a PLO commando team headed by Arafat’s top deputy, Abu Jihad, to take American diplomats hostage in Khartoum, Sudan, and demand the release of Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian assassin of Robert Kennedy.

“St-stop th-them!” Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu yelled in his nervous stutter, when I reported the news. He had turned as white as a sheet. Just six months earlier Arafat’s liaison officer for Romania, Ali Hassan Salameh, had led the PLO commando team that took the Israeli athletes hostage at the Munich Olympic Games, and Ceausescu had become deathly afraid that his name might be implicated in that awful crime.

It was already too late to stop the Abu Jihad commandos. After a couple of hours we learned they had seized the participants at a diplomatic reception organized by the Saudi Embassy in Khartoum and were asking for Sirhan’s release. On March 2, 1973, after President Nixon refused the terrorists’ demand, the PLO commandos executed three of their hostages: American Ambassador Cleo A. Noel Jr., his deputy, George Curtis Moore, and Belgian charge d’affaires Guy Eid. In May 1973, during a private dinner with Ceausescu, Arafat excitedly bragged about his Khartoum operation. “Be careful,” Ion Gheorghe Maurer, a Western-educated lawyer who had just retired as Romanian prime minister, told him. “No matter how high up you are, you can still be convicted for killing and stealing.”

“Who, me? I never had anything to do with that operation,” Arafat said, winking mischievously.

there is similar stuff going back to the 1920s when the russians took over the islamic world in terms of jihad to use it as a way to launch proxy war… you can read about it, i have linked to it, and thats that (or you can keep thinking that the past 100 years that also created the lid, sid, and weather underground that put obama in office meant nothing too)

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

no, its not tribalism.. the kurds are the smaller population and so are not useful, and they are not with the soviets… so they are the victims and not part of it… duh… you HAVE to know the russian angle history from 1920 and onwards to make actual real cogent statemetns that really excplain things

its the SAME REASON why the dems, who used to be against the people of color, because ther were more whites, changed sides and went agianst whites after feminism exterminated so many that the average age is now 50, and the population will collapse in under 10 years…

the population of the kurds is too small, its easier to side with the larget more violent and just eradicate kurds instead.

    Daniel in Brookline:
“What really stings here is that solutions to these problems are known. They have been used before, and they work.”

The closest we’ve come to the correct winning solution in the post-9/11 War on Terror is the Surge+Awakening in OIF. Yet Obama has worked diligently to sabotage the working OIF solution in multiple, compounding damaging ways. Nonetheless, if we mean to win the War on Terror, OIF peace operations are the bar we need to work our way back to. Not necessarily replicating the details, but at least restoring the Bush period, pre-Obama scope and approach to the contest.

Recovering the working solution begins with de-stigmatizing the Iraq intervention for the general public by setting the record straight on the why of the mission.

  37. the history of the kurds and russia go back to the ottoman empire… then, the russians let the curds flee the turks and settle in armenia… but then, later on, as happens to lots of groups, the kurds fell out of favor, and voila

why did they fall out of favor?
during the armenian holocaust when the turks were murdering millions, the kurds protected people and sided with the british

Winston Churchill described the massacres as an “administrative holocaust” and noted that “the clearance of the race from Asia Minor was about as complete as such an act, on a scale so great, could well be. … There is no reasonable doubt that this crime was planned and executed for political reasons. The opportunity presented itself for clearing Turkish soil of a Christian race opposed to all Turkish ambitions, cherishing national ambitions that could only be satisfied at the expense of Turkey, and planted geographically between Turkish and Caucasian Moslems”

besides, the enmity of the kurds and the arab states is long given that in the 1920s russia created the house of saud…

    got that yet?
russia backed the man who created the house of saud, and you can bet tthat they are in it together. the world trade center was their baby, and they thought it would demoralize us… but instead it almost reversed the years of effort here, and they then forbid most actions here in the US… [they gave ibn saud weapons, expertise, loaned troops and the wahabists are in their pocket]

What was the mission of the high-level delegation that Saudi Arabia has sent the Economic Forum in St. Petersburg? Nobody knows for sure, but the announcement of a major contract between the two countries seems to show that a new era begins.
    9 July 2015

it was russia that gave the keeping of the holy lands to ibn family and made them the keeprs

saud has now abandoned the sphere that was being built by Bush, and destroyed by Obama, and now moving back to russian sphere, cause everyone wants to side with the winner, not the losers..

    blert,

Rhetorical question; what do you do with a rabid dog? “

You can be full of kindness, and love, but you cannot sleep next to a mad dog. if we are weak, our land will become muslim”

  39. Art,

Islamic terrorism is easily dealt with, the means to do so are readily available. It is the Marxist Left’s narrative that underlies the West’s political correctness that obstructs implementing those means. Subverting the will to address the problem of Islam.

Making war upon 1.5 Billion Muslims is not required, nor is a police state.

An effective strategy starts with taking away the incentive (paradise) that drives Jihadist recruitment by using their own beliefs as leverage. Contact with any part of a pig denies entrance to paradise.

Target the Imams and Mullahs who preach jihad. In advocating the death of innocents, they forfeit their own right to life.

Hold Islam itself accountable by targeting Islam’s ‘holy’ sites as consequence for terrorist attacks. Holding their survival hostage to ending terrorist attacks. Declare that the day a nuclear terrorist attack occurs anywhere in the West will also be the day that Mecca ceases to exist.

You gain the leverage that is needed to deter an enemy by making the consequence intolerable for the enemy.

  40. G.B., “General el Sisi is a pragmatist. His primary point is that acting upon Allah’s and Muhammad’s dictates is ultimately, suicidal.”

Many millions of Muslims would follow that practical course if the imams would lead.

G.B., “Target the Imams and Mullahs who preach jihad. In advocating the death of innocents, they forfeit their own right to life.”

Right on. I’ve been advocating just that for some time now. Make preaching death to infidels a crime punishable by death. Also pointing out to the followers that the imams and their families never perform martyrdom operations. The Wahhabi/Salafi ideology is anti-human and any rational person should get that.

Dennis: “A large percent of Muslims World Wide who are not Wahhabis still support Sharia law.”

These surveys never tell you how many of those surveyed are knowledgeable about the Quran or understand all the facets of sharia law. There are various forms of sharia law in different Muslim countries. The forms range from mildly barbaric (maintenance of a fully patriarchal society) to full barbarism (death to apostates, stoning deaths for various offenses, lopping of arms and legs as punishment, etc.). You have to remember there is a lot of illiteracy and ignorance in the Muslim world. Many don’t really know what sharia law is but have been told by imams it would be better than the tyrannical laws of the typical Muslim dictatorships. (The most obvious – Egypt, Qatar, UAE, Iran, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Syria, Uzbekistan) Part of the Anbar Awakening in Iraq was a rejection of the strict ideology and sharia law of the Wahhabis by the Sunni sheiks in Anbar Province.

The Muslim world was well on its way to reform until Qutb and al Banna, two influential Muslim writers, called for a revival of Wahhabism in the 1950s. Part of their argument was that the Muslim world had fallen on hard times because they had strayed from the true Islam – Wahhabism. That appealed to many Muslims who looked around themselves and saw poverty and no hope of improvement. The other argument was, especially by Qutb, that the West was, by Muslim standards, decadent and evil. That the West did not deserve to be wealthy and powerful. He argued that the Muslim world could regain its former glory by going back to “the old time religion.” Saudi oil money and the West’s ignorance of the implications of fundamentalist Islam has allowed it to spread quite rapidly in the last 66 years.

  41. Hubris:

“Islamic terrorism is easily dealt with, the means to do so are readily available.”

As usual, just a few minor details left out. Such as how do you counter the reaction by Islamists to your easy solutions?

They will not resist or counter your easy solutions? Right. Got it. Let’s get on with it……

  42. I’ve laid out the rationale, strategic considerations and details numerous times on this blog.

As for a predictable Islamist reaction… oh no, you mean they’ll be mad? Grow a pair OM we’re in a fight to the death or do you plan to collaborate? Good little dhimmi…

  43. GB

And it’s all a bunch of long winded bovine excrement, but full of emotion. It’s all so simple in your own mind.

The enemy has a say in how your grand plans work out.

Fool. “The fog of war.” Look it up, think about it. Best laid plans never survive contact wiih the enemy. Fool.

It may be a “rationale” but practical, workable, rational? Well just simple. And no they are already mad, duh.
