Will Hillary’s Veep be Kaine? — 16 Comments

  1. Doesn;t matter.. she is going to lose given the persuasion and such that those who are against are missing and not understanding..

to quote scott adams wearing his hypnosis, persuasion expert, etc hat.

All Trump needs to do is NOT act like a crazy racist for the next few months and he will win bigly.

A week ago you compared ugly Donald Trump with ugly Hillary Clinton and declared them a visual tie. That matters because our visual “brain” generally wins against whatever part of the brain is pretending to be logical that day. But once we got a look at the entire Trump family, acting as a group, our visual brains started seeing them as a package deal. And when you compare the entire Trump family’s visual appeal to the entire Clinton family’s visual imagery it’s a massacre.

Would you prefer seeing Bill and Hillary Clinton decompose in front of your eyes for eight years, or watch the Trump family develop their dynasty? Entertainment-wise, that’s no contest. And people usually vote for entertainment over policy. They just don’t realize it.

I realize it as most dont care about facts, getting it right, hearing the whole thing… which is why they dont like many of my posts, or rather why some dont like many of them… none of that and the length makes it lack entertainment… ie. they have even asked me to be more entertaining… even if i lie and such, they would prefer that over the long non entertaining truth

the boring stuff of trumps speech are already forgotten
but there are a few things that stood out, and its amazing that those here are so busy thinking about how they themselves think, and how others should think like them, than to try to plumb the depths of others who are voting and wanting what they dont understand… (because others dont think like them and they dont try to think like others!!!!. at best they try to imagine the others being them in the situtation, not they are the others in the situation)

Trump’s best unscripted moment came when he humbly acknowledged that he probably didn’t deserve the support of evangelicals. That was persuasion genius. Nothing will make religious people love you harder than admitting you are not worthy of their affection. Boom. That’s a ten-out-of-ten on the persuasion scale, and you probably thought it was just an unscripted aside. They’re locked in now.

i agree a lot.. but this is because trump knows what motivates people in general, while those in specific think he doesnt and then get it all wrong in predicting the outcomes.

Trump made multiple references to inclusiveness. But the best, in terms of persuasion, was his twist on Clinton’s “I’m with her” slogan. Trump says “I’m with you.” That’s good idea-judo. He acknowledges the truth of the other side’s slogan then makes it look ridiculous.

he understands people better than they understand themselves which is why he is so succesful despite many thinking he shouldnt be.. he does what works, not what people imagine should work… the former is reality, the latter is wishful thinking dressed up like erudition

  2. If there’s one demographic that Republicans should win in national elections, it’s Asian Americans. They’re hard working, church going, family-oriented, and one of the most entrepreneurial people living in the country. – Matt Vespa

he is right, and i am neck deep in the asian community.
they HATE hillary, they like trump a lot… they HATE welfare… and they hate high taxes… and they are as business and succssful minded as any person from india, or israel… they are not like waht americans have become and what the dominant group of americans have become thanks to being boxed in by their desire to appear a certain way, even if it means compromising their ingrity, families, etc… to people who will never like them no matter how much they give in, until they are gone… and even then, not remembered kindly

Hillary Clinton is a direct threat to the American Dream.

Her proposals would be utterly devastating to our economy. Her dangerous ideology undermines our democracy and freedom. She represents everything that is wrong with the system: the deceit, corruption, cronyism, and a total lack of accountability. With extreme carelessness, she has compromised our national security and our safety. With contempt, she has flouted the rule of law that we rely on for justice, order, and peace. She has overwhelmingly lost the trust of the American people. She is not qualified to be our next president. She is unfit to be the commander in chief of the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to fight for our country.

There is only one presidential candidate who will preserve the American dream that our parents and our grandparents envisioned for us. There is only one candidate who will ensure a more prosperous, safe, and secure future for our children and our grandchildren. There is only one candidate who will defend the core principles that this great country was founded upon. There is only one candidate who will protect, stand with and fight for we, the American people. There is only clear choice for America: that choice is Donald J. Trump

  3. Hard to fathom what Kaine brings to the ticket. As said he is not a charismatic person by any stretch.

I was a Virginian when he beat George Allen for the Senate. That was one of the nastiest campaigns I ever hope to witness–although the upcoming Presidential will likely top it.

Allen was a highly respected incumbent Senator, former Governor. and rumored future Presidential candidate. He had to be destroyed. Kaine’s surrogates, who included the Clintons, “respected” Professor Larry Sabato of UVA, and the Washington Post went after him with all of the mud and offal they could muster. Kaine was certainly complicit, the little jerk.

That was the campaign which brought the word “Macaca” into the political lexicon.

I do hope that she chooses Kaine, and that I can enjoy a double xxx whipping.

  4. All Democrats are guilty of aiding and abetting the evil of the Leftist alliance. Without exception.

  5. In a just and measured society, with a great deal of respect for established standards and limitations, “Kaine Mutiny” would have you imprisoned until you cheered up.

  6. “Hard to fathom what Kaine brings to the ticket. As said he is not a charismatic person by any stretch.”

    That’s precisely his value.

  7. addendum;

Kaine’s reported value is his foreign policy credentials on the Armed Services Committee. If he is her VP pick, IMO it is a profound misstep on her part as it is an indication that she thinks that her greatest vulnerability is in the foreign policy arena. She’s certainly vulnerable on that front but her greatest problem is Bernie Sander’s supporter’s distrust and dislike of Clinton. Failing to pick a VP who appeals to them will lead to many staying home on election day. Plus, its terrorist attacks where she’s most vulnerable and Kaine doesn’t help her in that area.

  8. G.B.: “She’s certainly vulnerable on that front but her greatest problem is Bernie Sander’s supporter’s distrust and dislike of Clinton.”

WikiLeaks just released 27,000 Democrat National Committee e-mails that: “….. outline staffers discussing how to discredit Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in favor of a Hillary Clinton presidential candidacy.
They were sent between January of last year and May of this year.”
    See: http://www.wave3.com/story/32511710/wikileaks-releases-democratic-national-committee-emails

That will not be well received by Bernie supporters. They probably won’t go for Trump. They might either stay home or go for the Green party.

  9. J.J.,

I agree and Drudge is reporting that Kaine is her pick. He’s a straight white guy, not part of any victim or special interest group. Neither blacks, Latinos, asians, LGBT, socialist radicals, the young or environmentalists have any reason to get excited about this ticket. The only thing it’s got going is “The First Woman President”. But Hillary comes across as shrill, rather than as a Thatcher or Golda Meir.

All of this is just PoliSci 101, so to be this tone deaf leads me to wonder just how much input Billy boy had, which supports my long held suspicion that Bill Clinton didn’t ever really want to be the ‘First Gentleman’…

  10. Hard to fathom what Kaine brings to the ticket.

Depends on what her internal polling is telling her, I think. I suspect the worry is that she is going to lose the white vote and the male vote by a much larger margin than Obama did in 2012. Taking Warren, for example, white as white is, doesn’t help that, in my opinion- only a boring white guy could really help with that, and I doubt it matters, like Neo. People making these VP recommendations usually don’t understand that- for example, Obama won handily with dim Joe Biden- twice!

Agreed. As the Dems have waded deeper and deeper into identity politics the Clintons, strange to say, have always done better with the white blue-collar voters that used to be the core of the Democrat party. That was certainly the case with Hillary against Obama in 2008; while it didn’t get her the nomination then she did get a majority of primary votes. Now Trump has these voters in his cross-hairs and she needs to defend the turf. She probably figures she has women and nonwhites locked up. But will there be a turnout issue for her? The other factor is that Kaine will definitely not overshadow her.

Looks like Trump already blew it.

“Donald Trump is giving an utterly bizarre if perectly characteristic statement….”

(PS I have enjoyed reading Scott’s commentary, because he comes from a totally different point-of-view than the political pundits.)

  13. The Democrat ticket is set. Comrade Clinton and Citizen Kaine. Has a nice ring to it.
