Putin on the… — 12 Comments

  1. I’m going to show my age and state that that was Taco’s version of “Puttin’ on the Ritz” from 1983.

    Yeesh.

  2. a great and needed laugh!!

I’ve always been fascinated by that unusual group of songs that have somewhat somber melodies (usually minor key) but upbeat lyrics.

Another in that group is My Funny Valentine.

Can anyone name any others that come to mind?

  3. T:

Perhaps not quite what you are thinking of, but Isaac Asimov wrote that he enjoyed music in the minor, and liked to sing otherwise major key songs in their minor. His favorite to do that with was “Roll Out the Barrel”.

  4. Brian,

I have heard “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” in minor, never “Roll Out the Barrel” though. I bet it sounds very weird. My wife is a classical pianist, I’ll have to badger her into trying to do that–and badgering it will definitely take.

  5. Broadcasting// Narrow casting such ‘memes’ is a FELONY in Russia at this time.

Putin is not for putting up with them.

  6. Sorry to disrupt the fun&games, but this video points to yet another case of media mendacity!

If you take a look at this photo you’ll see the exact same image of Putin as in the video, except they’ve PhotoShopped it and replaced the Ritz cracker, probably to make him look more macho. 🙂

  7. Somehow this reminds me of the Harrison Ford movie “Remembering Harry”,
where the “winning is everything” lawyer gets shot, loses his memory, and slowly remember things.
    First thing was Ritz.

    So he paints Ritz crakers.

But it was more likely Tus & Thurs at the Ritz hotel, where he had been having an affair with an office colleague getting ready to divorce his wife — whom he remembers that he loves, along with his kids, and also his honor.

    Good movie.

Great Ritz cracker buzzing in Putin’s crotch here. (Nobody had to say it, but I’m sure many others were thinking it, too.)

In the meantime, Obama & Clinton have lost the Philippines as a US ally, for now.
