Fall: past peak — 7 Comments

  1. Me too T. The intense blue sky, colorful leaves floating on a crisp breeze, and the way everyone smilin when I walk the dogs; October as no equal, but April is a close second.

Nice shine and shadows on the basket of apples.

  2. Azulé£o

    Vai, Azulé£o, Azulé£o, companheiro, vai!
    Vai ver minha ingrata,
    Diz que sem ela
    O serté£o né£o é mais serté£o!
    Ai! Véµa Azulé£o,
    Vai contar companheiro, vai!

  3. More nice pictures. The harvest is over. Fall ’tis Nature’s way of saying WINTER’s coming. The world transitions from bursting life to the time when nature rests, getting ready to bring forth the renewal of spring.

And winter’s not so bad, if you have the right mind set.

    A WINTER PRAYER
    by Max Erhmann

    Cold lies the lifeless earth,
the birds are gone, and through
the naked trees the shrill wind
    whistles. Though the world
outside be chill and dead, may the
    world within us resound
with gleeful songs, and our hearts
be warm with hope and love.
    And may many an evening’s
    merriment, beside the
    hearthstone’s cheerful glow, make
    sweet the passing time.

  4. I went with a friend to the Botanical Gardens this afternoon late. As we approached one of the larger trees, with the sun behind our backs, a literal shower of golden leaves sifted down onto the path in front of us, a cloud nearly 6 feet from one side to the other. The fall lasted for about 20 seconds, long enough to register, but not so long we could whip out our cameras and take a video.
    Which is okay.

  5. “Across the evening sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it’s time for them to go?
Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I do not count the time.”

    Sandy Denny
