  1. Vanderleun Says:

Well, one’s Renee looking better than usual of late. I should recognize the other moonbat but I don’t.

  2. neo-neocon Says:

The other is one of my favorite actresses, but the photos are from quite a few years ago.

  3. The Other Gary Says:

Looks like Dianne Wiest, circa 1986, after her role in “Hanna and Her Sisters”:

    Am I right?

  4. neo-neocon Says:

    The Other Gary:

I’m not saying. At least, not yet.

  5. Ann Says:

This photo of Wiest taken in 2015 makes the resemblance even stronger, I think.

  6. David Says:

I confess to being a bit thick ,but I just don’t get it.

  7. Yancey Ward Says:

Yes, it is Wiest who is best remembered for the Woody Allen movie already mentioned above, and also her role in Parenthood as Steve Martin’s wife. She also did a couple of seasons of Law and Order as the DA between those portrayed by Steven Hill and Fred Thompson.

The resemblance between the two is quite eerie.

  8. neo-neocon Says:

    Yancey Ward:

I loved her in “Parenthood,” but she was most definitely Steve Martin’s sister. Mary Steenburgen was his wife.

I’m not sure whether you mean you don’t get the “separated at birth” concept, or whether you just don’t get this particular example of it.

The concept is to introduce photos of two famous people who look alike even though they’re not related, and even though you may have never noticed the resemblance before. It’s a regular feature on my blog.

In this post, there are photos of 2 different actresses (2 photos for each) who I think look alike.

  10. Sam L. Says:

I recognize none of them. Which bothers me not at all.

  11. Daniel in Brookline Says:

    Nice job, Neo!

You caught both of them with very similar pursed-lips expressions… which certainly contributes to the resemblance.

  12. Philip Says:

    Cersei and Marine Le Pen?

  13. Rose Says:

I always loved your ‘Separated at birth’ with Tim Geithner. 🙂

  14. Yancey Ward Says:

Yes, you are correct. It has been too long since I have seen that movie, apparently.

  15. Patrick Says:

I don’t see them as all that similar save for the expression. Try Joe Don Baker and Fred Thompson sometime.

  16. Fausta Says:

Except for the expression, not really.

  17. FunkyPhD Says:

Maybe they had the same surgeon?

  18. Artfldgr Says:

All this does is show ignorance of the fact that new songs contain snips of old songs to make them new AND familiar, and that actresses and actors are chosen for being in apeparance like past stars or even past iconic type rolls. which is why when a new kind hits the scene its a big deal

if you watch old movies, you would get this easy as you catalogue the “replacements”… [even funnier, they are also often children under other names that we no longer follow the lineage]

there are even B versions of A actors that you can hire cheaper for your movie if you cant get the A

    Cate Mulgrew – Julie Andrews
Zoe Saldana – Jada Pinkett Smith
    Chad Smith – Will Ferrell
    Jaime Pressly – Margot Robbie
    Isla Fisher – Amy Adams
    Evanna Lynch – Emily Kinney
Matt Bomer – Henry Cavill – (replaces Reeves)
    Alicia Silverstone – Kristen Stewart
    Ian Somerhalder – Chace Crawford
    Zooey Deschanel – Katy Perry
    Ellen Barkin – Cameron Diaz
    Sarah Hyland – Mila Kunis
Jeffrey Dean Morgan – Javier Bardem
    Zachary Quinto – Eli Roth
Drea de Matteo – Portia de Rossi
    Jordana Brewster – Demi Moore
    Fabio – Jon Hamm

heck… you want to see freaky? go to a casting call in which what is desired is described… you can then walk into a room of 50 monroes, or such… 🙂

its the economics of central casting
cant afford X then maybe Y will do to be the right image
and if Y wont do, then Z, and if Z wont, hold a casting call.

  19. Artfldgr Says:

Little Man Tate – Dianne Wiest

she is a lot heavier now…
she was a friend of a friend who had 11 emmys for news
they used two of them for doorstops

  20. neo-neocon Says:

You write: “All this does is show ignorance of the fact…that actresses and actors are chosen for being in apeparance like past stars…”

Actually, if anything, it shows awareness of that fact.

  21. Gringo Says:

Judi Dench, whom I remember from the Brit comedy As Time Goes By. Though I had to go to Wiki to correct my spelling. The other- no idea.

About Me

Previously a lifelong Democrat, born in New York and living in New England, surrounded by liberals on all sides, I've found myself slowly but surely leaving the fold and becoming that dread thing: a neocon.
