The PLO is disoriented, panicked and hysterical. Speaking to Newsweek this week, Saeb Erekat, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas’s chief conduit to Israel and the Americans, complained that since President Donald Trump was sworn into office, no administration official had spoken to them…
Erekat’s statement reveals something that is generally obscured. Despite its deep support in Europe, the UN and the international Left, without US support, the PLO is irrelevant.
All the achievements the PLO racked up under Obama ”“ topped off with the former president’s facilitation of UN Security Council Resolution 2334 against Israel ”“ are suddenly irrelevant. Their impact dissipated the minute Trump took office.
Israel, in contrast, is more relevant than ever.
While Trump occasionally pays lip service to making peace in the Middle East, his real goal is to win the war against jihadist Islam. And he rightly views Israel as a woefully underutilized strategic ally that shares his goal and is well-placed to help him achieve it.
During the electoral campaign, Trump often spoke derisively of Obama’s nuclear pact with Tehran. And he repeatedly promised to eradicate Islamic State. But when asked to explain what he intended to do on these scores, Trump demurred. You don’t expect me to let the enemy know my plan, do you?
Trump’s critics dismissed his statements as empty talk. But since he came into office, each day signals that he does have a plan and that he is implementing it. The plan coming into focus involves a multidimensional campaign that if successful will both neutralize Iran as a strategic threat and obliterate ISIS.
Glick’s article is worth reading in full. I have no idea whether she’s correct, but Glick is always interesting.

Just read the whole piece by Glick and it makes sense. I especially noted her conclusion that it was the US that stopped Israel from wiping out the PLO, Hamas etc. We protected the Islamist terrorists!
All of this is LONG overdue.

I should add that it was apparent to anyone looking that Obama favored the PLO over Israel. How that ever was US policy is a mystery to me. The PLO is a group of murderers.
Unless Trump is prepared to dump Saudi Arabia as an ally, any attempt to fight Jihadism is bound to fail. It supplies the money, and most of the intellectual backing.
Being pro-Israel only helps the Jihadis, because they are so rabidly anti-Jew. A policy that centres fighting Jihadis by supporting Israel is cock-eyed.
I’m not suggesting Trump not support Israel, only that they are not the right conduit for fighting militants. Turkey and Egypt would be better, to be honest, precisely because to beat militant Islam is going to be very hard without moderate Islamic support.
But while Saudi Arabia is allowed to do whatever it likes, the fight is hopeless anyway.

Politics is a dirty game. International politics doubly so. Not working with someone because they were murderers would leave a country with few options.
Mossad are quite possibly the world’s most efficient assassins. So your dislike of the PLO because they kill people (and mostly they have stopped) is really a dislike of their political position. Fine. But argue it like it is.

Understanding now is better late than never. There is no two state solution; there is only a one state solution. One solution is good and the other solution is bad. We, the USA, need to be 100% on the side of the good solution and 100% opposed to the bad solution. That was obvious many moons ago. How many times must Israel defend itself and then return acreage that would give it more secure boarders?
America is not limited to the 13 colonies, England conquered Wales, Scotlan, and Ireland (but coughed up all but Northern Ireland). Nations are founded by conquest. France is happy for the return of Alsace-Lorraine. So it goes. To the victor the spoils. So it goes. But for Israel its a different story.

It would be very heartening to learn that Glick’s analysis is correct. But as someone who has worked in international affairs, I hope we do not learn this. I’ve been an admirer of Glick for a number of years, that said I’ve disagreed with her analysis at times. I too will wait to see if her analysis is accurate but will be delighted if it turns out to be so.
The intentional
misreportingblatant lying of the NYT on Trump’s position on the Israeli settlements is typical of the propaganda rag.If this is true, great news. As for the Saudis, they respect strength (and money, which they don’t have, since we learned fracking). Time to roll up the jihadists and tell the Saudis to get jobs or starve. (I don’t care which.)

Don’t get me wrong, the PLO are a bunch of murderous scumbags, who I wouldn’t trust with my cat.
However, in the real world, they are a predictable political organisation and are trending towards a position that people can work with. They may yet reach the point that Sin Fein and the ANC got to under Mandela (although the ANC are quickly back-tracking).
I’d happily work with them if it meant ridding the world of the likes of ISIS. Actually, I’d rather have them than the Saudis, because their beef is political and limited, not religious and expansionist.

The PLO /Hamas will never negotiate in good faith. They teach their children to hate Jews. They tell them that Jews poison wells and bake their bread with the blood of non Jews. This is rather obvious, and can not be denied if one is honest. They want any living Jew, after their imaginary successful military campaign, to drown in the sea.
So if I tell you I demand all your property and that I will kill you and all of your kin; does that mean you will agree in the name of ‘peace’?
