How did the Manchester bomber get his funds?

You guessed it—why, public assistance, of course!

Like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, at least for a while.

Here’s the scoop on Abedi [emphasis mine]:

Salman Abedi is understood to have received thousands of pounds in state funding in the run up to Monday’s atrocity even while he was overseas receiving bomb-making training.

Police are investigating Abedi’s finances, including how he paid for frequent trips to Libya where he is thought to have been taught to make bombs at a jihadist training camp…

Abedi’s finances are a major ‘theme’ of the police inquiry amid growing alarm over the ease with which jihadists are able to manipulate Britain’s welfare and student loans system to secure financing.

One former detective said jihadists were enrolling on university courses to collect the student loans “often with no intention of turning up”.

Abedi was given at least £7,000 from the taxpayer-funded Student Loans Company after beginning a business administration degree at Salford University in October 2015.

It is thought he received a further £7,000 in the 2016 academic year even though by then he had already dropped out of the course. Salford University declined to say if it had informed the Student Loans Company that Abedi’s funding should have been stopped.

What stupid patsies we in the West are.

Abedi may have also gotten other welfare-type funds, although the Department for Work and Pensions isn’t telling. I’m assuming the tight lips are because of some sort of privacy rules. But Abedi’s friends and neighbors say he never held a job—and somehow he managed to fund his extensive travels.

This sort of phenomenon is not something new, either. It’s been known for quite some time that it’s a weakness in the system [emphasis mine]:

The Government has previously admitted it has no idea how many terrorists could be using taxpayer funded benefits and student loans to finance their activities.

Apparently no one has a clue what to do about it, either.

And whether a student loan recipient is a terrorist or not, why is there no check on whether those getting funds are actually enrolled and in attendance at a college or university? This would seem basic common sense, but basic common sense is very uncommon these days in our rush to be kind to the cruel.

Hope the ten geniuses on the Fourth Circuit realize this Muslim murderer recently traveled to Libya.

  2. Griffin Says:

The student loan issue should be pretty easy to check you would think. The applicant must show a valid proof of enrollment and/or proof of attendance or something like that before receiving the funds and even then the funds go directly to the school not to the student first.

Why would they give the money directly to the student in the first place?

  3. Geoffrey Britain Says:

There is no limit to the sacrifices the cowardly appeaser will demand from others. Manchester, Rotherham, Orlando and 9/11 are all sacrifices upon multiculturalism’s ideological altar.

Germany’s Angela Merkel is engaged in proving the depths of depraved indifference that ideological commitment can reach. Estimates are that another 3 MILLION Muslim invaders will enter Western Europe in 2017.

But I can’t agree that “no one has a clue what to do about it, either”… the French just demonstrated that the majority reject what must be done. Their fanatical commitment to their ‘progressive’ ideology is so great that they are willing to risk their children’s and grandchildren’s very lives upon the sacrificial altar at which they worship.

    Geoffrey Britain:

When I wrote “no one has a clue” I was being somewhat sarcastic rather than literal.

I think plenty of people have a number of ideas about what to do. They are not in power, however, particularly in Europe. That was the point I was trying to make, but perhaps the sarcasm wasn’t that clear.

  5. Richard Aubrey Says:

It’s worse in Europe and the UK. They really, really can’t afford to get crossways with multiculturalism or islamophobia.

  6. Molly NH Says:

Russia, Poland ,Hungary, Ukraine only sane places left in Europe. Poland refuses muslims will only take Christians then gives them 3 months of sustainance , then they are on their own. I read that they pack up and head out for Germany. The Danes too they are fed up with this national suicide.

  7. Geoffrey Britain Says:

It probably was clear, forgive my obtuseness.

As you mentioned not all in Europe are asleep:

Others wish to lump all of Europe into the same dire condition, a harbinger of doom that awaits all.

Russia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine are, surprisingly enough, bastions of Christianity, despite the official communist atheism imposed on them by force.
    The history is curious.
The Russian Orthodox Church was allowed, nay encouraged, to flourish under Stalin in WWII to aid the war effort, and afterwards. Khrushchev crushed the churches, forcing closure of 75%. After the USSR collapsed circa 1989, the church has been reborn. From Wiki (and a good read!):
“In 2011, the [Russian Orthodox] Church had 164 dioceses, 217 bishops, and 30,675 parishes served by 28,934 priests and 3,625 deacons. There were 805 monasteries and 30 theological schools.” Not what we think of in Russia, though the Russian Orthodox Church is today ridden with political strife.

Ukraine is primarily Christian (Orthodoxy in various forms).

Poland is hugely Catholic. See Saint (formerly Pope) John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyla.

Hungary is primarily a Christian, majority Catholic, country.

Odd, isn’t it, that Christianity survived under what we deem political oppression, only to rebloom, and in the free European West it atrophies under the secular onslaught of “freedom” in all its immoral forms, and throws itself under the wheels of the onrushing Islamic train.
France, a formerly majority-Catholic country, now has 40% atheists, and only 5%, mostly the older, go to weekly Mass.
Angela Merkel heads the German party ironically known as the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), imported Muslims as fast as she possibly could. At last count, less than 100 of her >800,000 young Muslim “refugees” were employed.

  10. Caedmon Says:

Nothing new indeed; Gerry Adams, very publicly head of Sinn Fein and more discreetly an IRA commander drew British unemployment cheques for decades. He was registered as an unemployed bartender. Whoever heard of an unemployed bartender in Ireland?

  12. OM Says:

The Turks were imported into West Germany long long before the Soviet Union fell and Germany was reunited. Guest workers they were called. Now, the rate of immigration may have increased due to the “crisis” created in Syria and MENA but the Turks in “West” Germany had been long time residents by then. Details, details, or just say is all Merkel’s dong….

  13. Snow on Pine Says:

Islam’s Jihad is all spectrum, and one aspect, among many–a la the death of a thousand cuts–is for Muslims to game various Western country’s social welfare programs.

    It’s a twofer for them.

They get to weaken unbeliever nation’s financial situations, while at the same time, not having to work, being given state subsidized free time, allows them to get up to whatever deviltry they want to, to study the Qu’ran even more intensely, etc.

Next, we have the pop out as many potential Jihadis as you want game, and we Western fools will pay for each one of these children..

Then, of course, since Muslim ideologues argue that Muslims are only subject to the word of Allah, and not to the “man made” laws of us “unbelievers,” many have no compunctions at all about ignoring/breaking the “man made laws” they believe they are not subject to.

How many Muslims must laugh themselves silly at the suicidally uninformed naivete with which we expect Muslims to see things as we do, follow our rules, and play by our playbook.

  14. Snow on Pine Says:

As they say, “you can’t tell the players without a program.”

What amazes me is that, from the evidence, essentially nobody in the West has actually read the three fundamental documents that form the doctrinal basis for Islam–the Qur’an, the Sira, and the major Hadiths.

For, if they had, they wouldn’t be falling all over themselves accepting Muslim’s false assertions that Islam means “peace” rather than “submission,” or that Islam is “the Religion of Peace.”

To quote Sun Tzu, “know yourself and know your enemy, and you can win a hundred battles.”

Obviously, we have yet to move on to the “know your enemy” part of this formula, and unless we do this, we will continue to be on the defensive. and not winning this religious war that Islam has thrust upon us.

  15. Snow on Pine Says:

Finally, I note the continuing reportage from Manchester on FOX, always against the background of the enormous sea of Teddy Bears, Balloons, and candles that people have placed around the Arena there as a memorial.

I note that such maudlin memorials, while perhaps personally satisfying, and giving one the sense of having done something, of “fighting back,” of “defiance” are not action.

    What we need is action.

    Kicking ass and taking names.

Identifying who these Muslim terrorists, their helpers, and potential terrorists are, rounding them up, interrogating them and, if they pose a threat, deporting them, if they’ve committed crimes, jailing them, then deporting them.

Until we take actions like this–at a minimum–we will not be able to shut these Muslim terrorists down.
