The Bret Weinstein interview — 8 Comments

  1. This is a good interview. I listened to the first hour and the last half hour. One narrative that is coming out of this, which is not really being discussed by conservatives is that most all of the ‘liberal’ media is siding with the professor. From the NY Times to HuffPo the news is that the liberal students and some of the staff are acting way out of line. I agree, they are.

The professor here notes that protestors are in the minority [he says most black people hold no truck with the politically correct, post modern view]. He says a tiny number want this but they are the ones writing the narrative. Ultimately he is encouraged by the support he has received from the left and the right and elsewhere. He thinks the left can unite, learn from this and move forward. He’s an optimist.

  2. Montage,

I agree that many on the left are realizing that this nonsense at Evergreen, the leftist (facist) thugs at Berkeley, and Ms ISIS Griffin have “gone to far”. They fear more and more people joining the ranks of the “deplorables”. But most of the “gone too far” crowd do not disagree with Ms ISIS, the Evergreen racists, or the bike lock wielders; they merely realize the salami must be sliced more thinly.

  3. At about the 45min mark, he touches upon what Art and I were talking about a few days ago: how these people are twisting basic science into a justification for exclaiming racism. To say that the term “phenotype” is a racist slur is just a bit of evidence of where these people want to go.

I’ll say it again: none of this is surprising to anyone who has been in academia the pas decade. How far ESC goes is an indicator of where others will follow.

  4. Weinstein is one man. Rod Dreher says the radical left is taking over:
The rising Left is bound and determined to crush or at least permanently sideline people it deems heretics – in particular, whites, males, orthodox Christians, and skeptics of the LGBT project. It does not want a pluralistic modus vivendi; it wants total domination. The establishment Left lacks the will to stop them. Its members are terrified of appearing un-woke.

  5. It appears that the furies have been liberated. And not, of course, just at Evergreen.

I suspect that Weinstein is toast.

As, may well be, the college President.

    (Hope I’m wrong about that….)

One would hope that the “decent”(?) Left would come to its senses; but that’s looking increasingly improbable since the Left’s feeding frenzy is currently in total insane mode.

It has gone “full” Lord of the Flies… (with no British officer in sight or even in the vicinity).

    Well, we shall see…

  6. Weinstein has put out videos lately of people on campus with bats.

The ADMINISTRATION put out a MEMO saying they UNDERSTAND it as a TOOL for promoting safe spaces but is asking people to put the bats away.

Seriously. Anyone with a bat should be expelled.

  7. Anyone who has read accounts of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and its excesses will recognize the similarity with Evergreen in that mob mentalities are not rational. You either clip its wings early on or it can get ugly. These are still relatively isolated events, but they do seem to be gaining in momentum.

  8. Wow!
Fascinating. Thanks for posting this, Neo. Professor Weinstein is a man with the courage of his convictions. He is also very adroit at explaining his thoughts and beliefs.
Any faculty or administration at Evergreen not standing and vocalizing a defense against his treatment are unfit for the academic life.
