Andrew C. McCarthy on Mueller’s empire
Here’s an excellent, excellent article by my go-to guy for legal matters, Andrew C. McCarthy. The subject is the enormous and nearly-unlimited fishing expedition that is the Mueller investigation:
Into an investigation that was already fraught with political tension, the special counsel has recruited partisans””donors to politicians who describe themselves not as a loyal opposition but as the Trump “Resistance.” What are fair-minded people to make of that?
Not just one or two recruits, but 14 lawyers, with more to come.
McCarthy points out that investigations of much greater scope don’t seem to need nearly as many lawyers:
I was the lead government lawyer in the terrorism investigation of the so-called Blind Sheikh’s jihadist cell, following the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and an unsuccessful plot to bomb New York City landmarks. The case involved extensive undercover investigations. We also probed the history of overseas jihadist movements, as well as that of covert American aid to the Afghan mujahideen’s war against the Red Army. There were classified-information challenges, including litigation over the admissibility in a criminal trial of evidence obtained under foreign-intelligence-gathering authorities. The eventual nine-month trial of 12 defendants, involved hundreds of witnesses and intercepted conversations (translated into English from Arabic).
We managed to get by with a team of three trial prosecutors and one appellate lawyer assigned to help us with the many novel legal issues. After all the defendants were convicted, I wrote the government’s appellate brief with the assistance of a single appellate editor.

As a sharp guy from Creighton Law noted at Power Line, Andy is signaling to Trump’s lawyers. Mueller’s appointment and entire investigation is an unconstitutional general warrant and contrary to the Fourth Amendment. Any indictment would be the fruit of the poisonous tree. Case dismissed. (I hope.)
Wouldn’t it be funny if these Dem lawyers nailed Rice, Power, Lynch and Brennan. Comey too.
Too bad the Repubs in Congress don’t have the balls to use the power of the purse — pass legislation that takes Mueller’s funding out of the “indefinite appropriations” and appropriate a fixed amount. And when Mueller runs through it, call him in and say, “Well, Mr. Mueller, have you found the existence of a crime for which you can indict someone? No? Very well, pack up and go home.”
Mueller should have been considered unqualified based on his close relationship with Comey. The whole thing is a set up, designed to drag on for at least until November, 2018. The investigation will leak fake news, keep the msm-dnc foaming at the mouth, and the base will continue to disrupt and continue with their violent tactics. Nip it in the bud, not by firing Mueller, but as Richard proposes. Limit Mueller’s budget and set a deadline for coming forth with evidence that a crime has been commited.

Andy didn’t need 14 lawyers – he already had a criminal and a crime.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Mueller surprised everyone with an honest investigation?
Or used his budget to track down Democrat connections to Russia?

Obama knew about the Russian hacking one year prior to the election and chose to do nothing, I can’t believe that no one in the media including pundits from the right wing can figure out why, it’s actually quite simple – It was because Obama knew the Russian was hacking in favor of Hillary. It was only after Trump had won that that they cooked up the idea they could use the Russia hacking with the favouring hillary parts hidden to frame trump
This is sure looking more like a fishing expedition to get Trump.
I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes but at this point I hope Trump is playing hardball or threatening to — which is to go nuclear on all leftover Obama/Clinton/Lynch/Holder/Rice corruption.
The other eventuality is the American people are getting tired of it all, while the Dems rely solely on this Russia fraud as it’s only hammer in it’s toolbox, in search for nails to hit. All the while, the Press is getting tired, demoralized and increasingly crazy, further alienating the “normal” people trying to put food on their tables. It’s like the Global Warming of politics. No one really believes in it anymore. No one normal.
